New finds

Trying to add to my boys’ list right now and these are some cool new names I’m thinking of adding

[name_m]Faust[/name_m]- Not typically my style but I find something refreshing about it.

Maayan- prn like My-yahn, again this name is super refreshing to me, I love that it starts with M too

[name_m]Eoghan[/name_m]- prn like [name_u]Owen[/name_u], would it be weird to use if I’m not Irish?? Is it too confusing??

What do you think of these and can you suggest any others that I might like with a similar feel?

[name_m]Faust[/name_m]- I’m not that keen on it, but I agree that the sound is refreshing. [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and Fawkes all share similar sounds and are more appealing to me personally

Maayan- I think the double a looks a bit awkward, so I would prefer it spelt Mayan. I’m also not that keen on the pronunciation, but I don’t mind [name_f]Maya[/name_f].

[name_m]Eoghan[/name_m]- I really like this, it’s unusual! I wouldn’t have pronounced it correctly to begin with, but I’d pick it up quickly - I think it’s cool. I don’t think it’s too weird, my grandmother’s sister named all of her children very Irish names with fairly familiar Anglo pronunciations (never realized how they were spelt until about a year ago lol). You might also like [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] or [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f].

I like [name_m]Eoghan[/name_m] spelled [name_u]Owen[/name_u].

Interesting finds!

I can certainly see the appeal of [name_m]Faust[/name_m], but it immediately makes me think of Dr [name_m]Faustus[/name_m], and the man who sold his soul to the devil. Not an ideal association. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Franz[/name_m], [name_m]Fritz[/name_m], [name_m]Fenno[/name_m], Falco, [name_f]Fa[/name_f]ñch, Pabst, [name_m]Ernst[/name_m], [name_m]Bendt[/name_m]?

I quite like Maayan, although something about the double A throws me off a bit. I do quite like Mayan. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Vivaan[/name_m], Eashan, [name_m]Haakon[/name_m], [name_f]Marin[/name_f] (love this for a boy!), [name_m]Gaetan[/name_m]/Caetan?

[name_m]Eoghan[/name_m] is nice, but strikes me as an unnecessarily complex spelling for a non-Irish person. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_u]Owen[/name_u]? Or the visually simpler [name_m]Eoin[/name_m] spelling (as in author [name_m]Eoin[/name_m] Colfer?) I also know a little Eolann (OH-lan), which I quite like, or there’s always [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], [name_m]Oisin[/name_m], [name_m]Ruadhan[/name_m], Caolan?
