I came across the name [name_u]Destry[/name_u] on a list. I’m iffy on it. I like the look of it, but actually saying it out loud, it comes across as a bit awkward. However, I do like that it has a subtle connection to my husband’s name. I’m thinking about it as a middle name.
Here’s what we are thinking. The first names are names that have been on our list for a year or more, but we haven’t had much luck pairing them up with anything:
It works fine in the middle spot and I particularly like [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] [name_u]Destry[/name_u]. On its own I think it reads more as a girls name but it is a nice name and definitely usable.
I’ve always been a fan of [name_u]Destry[/name_u], though as a first name I do prefer it more for girls than boys (probably something to do with the ubiquitous 90s trend of girls names ending in “y”). That being said, I think it makes quite a handsome and unique middle name and it’s an added bonus if it honors your husband.
I quite like both [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_u]Destry[/name_u] and [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] [name_u]Destry[/name_u]. I probably prefer [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] slightly more as I almost get an old west vibe from it particularly in conjunction with [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f].
@lonestar: Thank you I really do think [name_u]Destry[/name_u] as a first name would suit a girl but as a middle, I like it on a boy. Funny how it works like that. I think [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] [name_u]Destry[/name_u] is my favorite mainly because it gives that exact vibe that my husband’s name gives
I really like [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] [name_u]Destry[/name_u]. I love the fact that both names are uncommon. There is a male Youtuber named Destery so I don’t really think “girl” when I see or hear it aloud
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m] [name_u]Destry[/name_u] immediately popped out at me! I love [name_u]Destry[/name_u] as a middle, it feels fresh without being trendy.
I wouldn’t use [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] and [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] as siblings at any point thought and [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] are very close too! ([name_u]Love[/name_u] the combos in your signature!)
I do agree that it can read more as feminine…I wonder if it is because it feels so similar to [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]?
