New name crush

I often use name games to try to lull myself back to sleep when my cat wakes me up early, and it’s usually a decent strategy, but today it led me to a new name crush that woke me up further!

The name in question is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]! I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] (anglophone but with some Quebecois family members) - I’d use the JEN-uh-veev pronunciation but I like the ZHAHN-vee-ev one too. I like it as a full name but also love [name_f]Neve[/name_f] (pronounced “neev”) as a nickname.

The name game I was playing was, what if I had two girls and then a boy (like in my immediate family). The other two names I landed on were [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_u]Barrett[/name_u].

The main concern I would have with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is not a huge one but it’s that the surname I’d use is another nine-letter, three-syllable name (@rch!b@ld). The rhythm isn’t as pleasing to me as [name_f]Iris[/name_f] @rch!b@ld or [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] @rch!b@ld, but [name_f]Neve[/name_f] @rch!b@ld works nicely I think, and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] @rch!b@ld does otherwise sound good to me, it just doesn’t have the ideal rhythm, and non-name nerds may not notice (except that it is a long name for sure). I also have honestly never considered [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and don’t currently have middle names in mind for it, but that’s a fun problem to work on

Thoughts on any or all parts of this?

It is a bit long, but otherwise its a nice name!

I know 3 Genevieves - one has a 3 syllable last name, another a 4 syllable last name. I think it’s a lovely name

It is a mouthful, but consider that she will likely get married and perhaps end up changing her last name, anyway. And its a small price to pay for a beautiful name. She could always go by [name_f]Gen[/name_f] or [name_f]Gena[/name_f], too.

I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] so much!! I think it sounds fine with your last name. [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of people have a 3 syllable first and 3 syllable last name

I don’t think it’s too long at all! I say if you love it, go for it :yellow_heart:

I used to have [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] on my short list! I remember being flabbergasted by how beautiful it sounded when my sister mentioned her friend’s name. Everyone always remembered her name when I was growing up.

The only issue is that apparently it’s a granny name in [name_f]France[/name_f] and I do think it risks sounding over the top… but you have a wealth of nicknames that can hem [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] in, so I won’t discourage you. I’ve changed in name styles quite a bit and prefer simpler names, but I will always hold a candle in my heart for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]

It’s beautiful! I don’t think long name would be an issue. It flows well.

Genevieve is so sweet and stunning! [name_u]Nev[/name_u] is a great nickname. I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are so pretty for sisters or as a combo! I don’t think the full name is too long. It has a good flow to it.

Geneveive and [name_f]Neve[/name_f] are both beautiful and I think they fit fine wirh @rch1bald

I think [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] sounds great with your surname! Beautiful name, too!

Genevieve is one of my favorite names! I think it goes well with [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]
