New Name Opinions, Please!

I was looking through the other forums when I discovered the girls’ name [name]Allaire[/name]. Apparently, it’s a French surname, and I love its pleasant meaning and the sound of it. Personally, I thought it would be refreshing with the trend of using Irish surnames as first names, but I am curious to see what everyone thinks. Does it sound too whispery and brittle? I’m aware it’s rather unique so I’d look to pair it with something more common. Thank you for your thoughts!

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce it?

I know of an Alaire, and she just adores her name if that helps.

[name]Allaire[/name] isn’t really considered a first name by many but the one French site I could find that listed it as a first name listed under boys which I am inclined to agree with. The name is related to [name]Hillary[/name]

In regards to French surnames used as first names like Irish ones are used I think it’s very strange especially since many would probably be mispronounced.

Sounds pretty and is not commonly heard. I love french names, my favorite being [name]Noelle[/name]. If you love it then that is what matters. It is really pretty though! Good [name]Luck[/name]!

Like “charge alaire” which means basically means wing loading?

Edited so I wouldn’t cause confusion about aile vs alaire

Could it be related to the name Alafair? Alafair is a name I’ve encountered in books and film , always associated with the Acadian people of [name]Louisiana[/name]. ([name]Add[/name] it to the name bank , Nameberry … and while you’re at it …add Dymphna.

I don’t care for it. It seems a bit made up.
