New namer needing some help

I’m hoping for some help finding a name for my first child, due this [name]June[/name]. I’m pretty new to this whole naming world, so any advice will be greatly welcomed.

So far, I’ve only come up with these girls names:
[name]Niamh[/name]/[name]Neve[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Keira[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Margot[/name]
Finola/ Nola

[name]How[/name] do you feel about these? What else might I like?

I’ve started with girls names because I have a feeling it will be a girl, but boy name suggestions are welcome if you have any!

Thank you in advance, I look forward to reading your responses and making some progress on naming this baby before it arrives!

My favorites are [name]Niamh[/name] and [name]Ada[/name]. So gentle and elemental in a way, a great balance of old-fashioned and familiar yet refreshing and sleek.
[name]Ailis[/name] (“AY-lish”)
[name]Cassia[/name]
[name]Sheila[/name] or [name]Celia[/name]
[name]Gwen[/name]
[name]Laure[/name]
[name]Fern[/name]

I suggest posting in the “girl names” and “boy names” forums, which get more traffic. [name]Welcome[/name]!

I love the name [name]Ada[/name]! Would you consider using the name [name]Fiona[/name]?

[name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry! Here are my two cents:

[name]Niamh[/name]/[name]Neve[/name]: depending on where you live, [name]Niamh[/name] would have a heck of a time getting people to spell and pronounce her name right; [name]Neve[/name], though, is beautiful and exotic, while being easily spelled and pronounced.

[name]Pearl[/name]: I would [name]LOVE[/name] to see this on a child! It’s familiar and recognizable, but is [name]WAY[/name] underused. I’ve never met a [name]Pearl[/name] of any age.

[name]Ada[/name]: too close to the trendy [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Addison[/name] for my liking, and I think it wouldn’t catch people’s attention.

[name]Keira[/name]: This has a much different feel than the vintage [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Ada[/name]. Very contemporary-sounding and ALMOST a touch exotic. I do like it a lot.

[name]Wren[/name]: this one just feels incomplete to me. It’s a pretty word to see written out, but the sound lacks substance.

[name]Margot[/name]: I don’t like that this looks like “maggot” written out, and the sound has always struck me as odd and unappealing.

[name]Finola[/name]: This could grow on me, but the [name]Fin[/name]- looks a bit masculine.

You may like:

[name]Winola[/name] (one of my top ten favorite names, and the [name]Win[/name]- looks much more feminine to me than [name]Fin[/name]-)
[name]Marjorie[/name]
[name]Madge[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Margie[/name]
[name]Lark[/name]
Skylark
[name]Robin[/name]
[name]Oriole[/name]
Nevine
[name]Opal[/name]

Good luck!

From your list I like [name]Niamh[/name] and [name]Keira[/name]. My cousin is [name]Niamh[/name], and yes she gets spelling issues a LOT, but she loves her name anyway. Pronunciation is only an issue when someone reads her name first, which honestly doesn’t happen much- doctor appointments and first day of school really. Also we live in a part of the US where the majority of people are of Irish decent, so a lot of people are familiar with the name to begin with. [name]Keira[/name] is much more mainstream, but still a little unexpected which I think is nice.

I’m IN [name]LOVE[/name] with the name [name]Pearl[/name]. I would use it in a heartbeat!

My opinion is slightly bias, as my name is [name]Keira[/name] So naturally, it’s my favourite name on your list. I really love my name, I’ve never met anyone who spells it the same as me. I think I’ve only ever met one other [name]Keira[/name] too. Besides from [name]Keira[/name], I also like [name]Wren[/name], Nimah and [name]Margot[/name].

Best Wishes x

Hmm…
[name]Niamh[/name]/[name]Neve[/name]: I love this choice, [name]Niamh[/name] is a beautiful soft lyrical Irish name. Please don’t use the anglicised spelling ‘[name]Neve[/name]’. If you live in [name]England[/name] [name]Niamh[/name] will be instantly known as she’s quiet common here. Furthermore once people know her name is pronounced ‘neve’ then people will say neve and not something along the lines of nymph or whatever else they can come with ; )

[name]Pearl[/name]: I think this choice, is lovely very timely and vintage. [name]Pearl[/name] sounds stunning! I love the idea of using something sweet and vintage like [name]Pearl[/name], she’s so refreshing.

[name]Ada[/name]: I also like [name]Ada[/name] again like with [name]Pearl[/name] she’s timely and vintage, furthermore she is refreshing but I do prefer [name]Pearl[/name] to [name]Ada[/name].

[name]Keira[/name] - I like this name a lot and she’s rather common in the UK especially with this anglicised spelling. But personally I prefer [name]Ciara[/name] she has the same pronunciation as [name]Keira[/name] but is the original spelling, and I’m all about original spellings.

[name]Wren[/name] - I like this choice but more as middle name for something like [name]Margot[/name] from your list.

[name]Margot[/name] - I like [name]Margot[/name] a lot she’s a sweet twist on [name]Margaret[/name] and appears a lot fresher too. I think [name]Margot[/name] is lovely but I do prefer [name]Margo[/name].

[name]Finola[/name] - I’m not keen! Prefer [name]Fiona[/name]?

Suggestions:

[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]

[name]Finley[/name]
[name]Ryan[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Beckett[/name]
[name]River[/name]

Thank you for all the responses!!
I need to really think about some of your suggestions.

@purplekitty5773 I have a cousin named [name]Fiona[/name] so I can’t use it, but I would probably have loved it!

It’s great to see the love for [name]Pearl[/name], I was worried it would get negative feedback.

As for the spelling of [name]Niamh[/name], my biggest concern is whether it is inappropriate for me to use this spelling as I am not Irish?

And finally, I think the biggest reason for liking [name]Finola[/name] is the [name]Nola[/name] part… what do you think of [name]Nola[/name] on its own?
