New Names Crushes of this Month

Ruby (g) and René (b).

René does fit with some of my other names (Hans, Ivan, Otto, Victor)
Ruby feels very out from the boys and the girls, though. I have no idea of why I am liking it so much neither, lol

What do you think of these two names? What sort of imagery do they give you?
Both names are super rare where I live!

I really like Ruby. René is nice too but not my favourite.

Ruby gives me the vibes of an adventurous girl who is down to earth.

René feels more formal and I imagine someone wearing a suit. I also picture a small French bakery.

I have always liked [name_u]René[/name_u], also seriously loving [name_m]André[/name_m] and Leandré (sadly can’t use them myself :smiling_face_with_tear:). [name_u]René[/name_u] sounds very handsome and gentle. I haven’t yet warmed up to [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I think of soap operas

I love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]! I would honestly use it for a child myself if it wasn’t the name of my great-aunt, whom I’m not close to, but it’s still a charming name nonetheless.

[name_u]René[/name_u] is okayish; not too bad nor too good.

I love [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], but like you I don’t really know why  It’s very different from the other names on my list.

[name_u]René[/name_u] isn’t bad, but it feels a bit dated to me. It also reminds me of 'Allo 'Allo!

I feel [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a bit too… [name_f]English[/name_f] and also nicknamey compared to my other names… But maybe it can work with my other favourites [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f], [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], who knows :person_shrugging:t2: After all I also have [name_f]Ines[/name_f], and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Ines[/name_f] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] do sound cool

Ruby is quite versatile…my husband and I (both British) agree that it seems like a fairly common name but neither of us have actually met more than one Ruby in our lives.

She could be an English prep school girl, friends with Annabel and Pippa. It’s not inherently super posh but it would work in that context.

It makes me think of Ruby Rose the actress so I can also see it on someone edgy, rebellious.

I also think of various pop culture references like Ruby Tuesday, Ruby Don’t Take Your Love to Town, and the ruby slippers, which give it a kind of vintage showbiz vibe? It’s a little bit rockabilly.

René feels like the French version of something like John. Like a timeless classic. I don’t know if that’s actually how it is seen in France but it has that vibe for me. Maybe it’s the open -é ending but it also has a slight dreamy sound to me.

My guess is that now it would be quite an international, suave sort of name? I can’t quite picture it on a child but I can see a smartly dressed young guy.

I have this problem too

[name_u]René[/name_u] is charming with a cool meaning and international flair  I get imagery of old books, reading by candlelight, kind of dark-academia vibes too

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is bubbly and sweet with imagery of stars, polished jewels, gold and red, glittery confetti, converse
