[name]Adair[/name]
[name]Greta[/name]
[name]Luella[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Adair[/name] - A secret favorite of mine that seems ready to pop on my list for the first time any day now.
[name]Greta[/name] - Not a fan. The Gret- beginning is just ugly to me.
[name]Luella[/name] - I see this as a super fluffy feathery name. A bit too much for me.
[name]Ramona[/name] - I think of [name]Ramona[/name] the Pest and the rest of the [name]Ramona[/name] books. Not a fan, but I’m not fully against it either.
My favorite is [name]Adair[/name]!
[name]Adair[/name] - I really kind of like this one better for a boy. I think it has a really cool vibe as a male name. I don’t dislike it on a girl, though.
[name]Greta[/name] - Nice! It’s not an absolute favorite of mine, but I do like [name]Greta[/name].
[name]Luella[/name] - I really like [name]Luella[/name], but I’m not sure how wearable I think it is. Definitely awesome as a middle name, or maybe as a nickname for something like [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Estella[/name]. I’m on the fence regarding whether or not I think it could work well as a stand alone first name. I would definitely be happy to meet a little [name]Luella[/name], I just wonder if it would be a difficult name to wear.
[name]Ramona[/name] - I like this a lot!
[name]Adair[/name]… not really a fan, but I could see how it could work well depending on which name it is paired with.
[name]Greta[/name]… I like this name. It’s spunky. Reminds me of the actress [name]Greta[/name] [name]Garbo[/name]. Greta Garbo - Wikipedia
[name]Luella[/name]… I also like this name, rather old fashioned sounding, it’s not commonly used [as far as I know] but still has the [name]Ella[/name] in it so it’d fit right in.
[name]Ramona[/name]…I don’t like it because of the sound of it. It has that “moan” sound, I think the name might get the kid picked on due to that.
[name]Adair[/name]- I see this as a surname only since this was the last name of someone I knew. It could be cute.
[name]Greta[/name]- I like this name a lot. It is on my list for possible names for the future.
[name]Luella[/name]- This is pretty, but I would hate the nn [name]Ella[/name]. I like the lu part, just not the ella.
[name]Ramona[/name]- I like this a lot and had it on my list but my DH doesn’t like it. I told some of my relatives about this name since they came from Mexico and they would probably know the name more, but they didn’t like it surprisingly. It is pretty and strong.
[name]Adair[/name]: I have seen this name floating on NB threads for a while now. Honestly, I never heard of it until NB, so it kind of sounds like [name]Ad[/name][d] air to me. But I can see it as a fresh alternative to: [name]Clair[/name], [name]Blair[/name], or [name]Alastair[/name].
[name]Greta[/name]: Knew a person with this name and didn’t really care for her personality, so to be fair, I rather not comment on this name much.
[name]Luella[/name]: I wouldn’t mind meeting a little girl with this name. It kinda has a whimsical feel to me, even if other’s believe it to be a bit old fashion. I just hope children will not make a rhyming association to, Cruella. But I like the Calluna, so I cannot say much against this name. Lol.
[name]Ramona[/name]: Personally, I cannot see the appeal of this name. Its just something about it, that feels a bit…irritating. Maybe if I met someone with it, my opinion would change.
[name]Adair[/name] - beautiful! reminds me of all those lovely vintage names like [name]Adelaide[/name] and [name]Adele[/name], but it has a little more quirk. though it could be often confused with [name]Ada[/name].
[name]Greta[/name] - also lovely, possibly my favourite of these names. a wonderful name!
[name]Luella[/name] - not a bad name, and should be pretty, but for some reason I don’t love it as much as the others.
[name]Ramona[/name] - a gorgeous, strong, quirky name. someone else mentioned the [name]Ramona[/name] the pest books, but most names will have characters who have them somewhere I suppose!
[name]Love[/name] [name]Greta[/name]. I might be tempted to spell it [name]Gretta[/name].
[name]Adair[/name] - it does seem rather vintage and i think it’s kind of cute. i’ve not heard this name used ever, so would definitely be a unique choice, though i don’t think it’ll ever top my list.
[name]Greta[/name] - I’ve always liked [name]Greta[/name], but i think i prefer [name]Gretchen[/name] which is sort of similar but seems more feminine to me.
[name]Luella[/name] - I’m not a fan. It’s a perfectly respectable name and all, and there’s not really anything wrong with it, but i don’t like the sound of it or the way it feels when you say it. I prefer the simpler, more classic [name]Ella[/name], or [name]Elle[/name].
[name]Ramona[/name] - I also think of the [name]Ramona[/name] books, but that doesn’t dissuade me from this name. i think it’s adorable and quirky. This could very well make it onto my list…
[name]Adair[/name]- love it! So special. The only [name]Ad[/name]- name I really love.
[name]Greta[/name]- very fairytale-ish to me. [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Luella[/name]- nms. Too poofy. I like plain old [name]Lou[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Louise[/name].
[name]Ramona[/name]- love this strong yet girly name!
Great list!
[name]Adair[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like. It’s pretentious to me, mostly because of the types of women I’ve met with daughters named [name]Adair[/name]. It’s also the middle name of a former Girlicious member, and those girls are all pretty arrogant. It also sounds like “a dare”, which isn’t really the fondest thought for me. I definitely see the appeal though, and it has the same letters as [name]Adria[/name], which I like.
[name]Greta[/name] - NMS, but I can sort of see why others like it.
[name]Luella[/name] - A bit bland for my liking, but it’s a pretty sound. [name]Just[/name] doesn’t strike my fancy at all.
[name]Ramona[/name] - I knew a man named [name]Ramon[/name], so I think of him. And [name]Ramona[/name] and Beezus.
[name]Adair[/name] and [name]Luella[/name] aren’t my favorite names, but they aren’t necessarily bad.
[name]Greta[/name] is cool. Seems like one of those older names that may come back around.
I love [name]Ramona[/name]. But I know part of the reason is because my most favorite aunt was named [name]Ramona[/name]. And she was the cool never married, always went to her house when I got mad at my parents in high school aunt. I would love to use her name to honor her (she passed away at the end of my junior year of high school) but I totally understand DH not liking it so much.
[name]Ramona[/name] is really pretty with a great nn [name]Mona[/name]!
[name]Adair[/name] - seems preppy (kind of like [name]Blair[/name]), but a surname name that works well on a girl. Would be a great mn (especially if it is a family name). I like the suggestion of [name]Adele[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Greta[/name] - this one is growing on me. I can see it gaining popularity along with [name]Etta[/name], but will never be as popular as [name]Emma[/name] or [name]Ella[/name]. While a less-than-common choice, it will fit in nicely with current trends.
[name]Luella[/name] - ok as a mn.
[name]Ramona[/name] - great name. Doesn’t remind me too much of the books. I had a student named [name]Ramona[/name] and quite like the name on her. [name]Love[/name] the nn [name]Romy[/name].
[name]Adair[/name]–Not as pretty to me as [name]Claire[/name], but so much better than [name]Blair[/name] or [name]Sloane[/name] or [name]Greer[/name]…
[name]Greta[/name]–A friend of mine has daughters named [name]Greta[/name] and [name]Petra[/name]…I know, way too similar…I’ve never loved the name [name]Greta[/name] (or [name]Gretchen[/name]) because I associate them with grouchy, grunting, gritting, and other unsavory gr terms.
[name]Luella[/name]–The first time I became aware of [name]Luella[/name] was from the GirlsGoneChild blog–the host has a 4-yr-old daughter named [name]Fable[/name] [name]Luella[/name]. I like [name]Luella[/name] more than I like [name]Lucina[/name], or [name]Luna[/name], but I’d most likely not use it.
[name]Ramona[/name]–I’d love to meet a little girl with this name, but I’m not holding my breath. I think it could safely be used without fearing that there’d be hundreds of little Ramonas. [name]Ramona[/name] reminds me of [name]Verona[/name], which I prefer.
In order of preference…
1 [name]Greta[/name] - Gorgeous Scandinavian gem with a bit of a edge to it!
2 [name]Ramona[/name] - spunky, vintage with literary and musical associations (there was a novel in the 1880’s and a song in the 1920’s)
3 [name]Adair[/name] - I don’t mind this unisex name but it’s best with a feminine mn. [name]Adair[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]?
4 [name]Luella[/name] - A little too frilly and cutesy for my liking but I think it’s usable. It has a good and bad image: [name]Louella[/name] [name]Parsons[/name] was a nasty gossip columnist whom the Hollywood stars feared in the 40’s and 50’s and British fashion designer [name]Luella[/name] [name]Bartley[/name] who is best known for her handbags.
[name]Adair[/name]- I am biased on this one since there are n a lot of people on my town with this as a surname- one of which I absolutely could not stand
[name]Greta[/name]- I do not have strong feelings about this name either way. It is ok - old fashioned but kind of spunky.
[name]Luella[/name]- I really like this name. It is also old fashioned, but it feels a bit more wearable than [name]Greta[/name].
[name]Ramona[/name]- I do not know why but I do not like this name. It’s just not a style that I like.
