I have found some new names that I’ve been debating on adding to my collection of favorites but I’m not completely sold on them. Im struggling to find a middle name I like paired with them and I think that’s what’s stopping me from loving them. I’d love to hear your honest thoughts on these names, please and thank you!
[name_m]Truman[/name_m], [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_m]Gwynedd[/name_m] aren’t my style personally but they are great names. I love [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] especially!
[name_m]Truman[/name_m] - Feels a little sporty, kinda like names like [name_m]Preston[/name_m], [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], etc., but in a more chill way. Overall not super exciting to me but still a nice name. It does make me think of The [name_m]Truman[/name_m] Show a little bit but it’s not overwhelming, I have a feeling it might be for a lot of other people though
[name_m]Ellis[/name_m] - I feel neutral for the most part, but it certainly has some cool qualities
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m] - A bit much for me personally, I can’t say I dislike it though. I actually know someone who has this as a middle name so I think it’s pretty feasible irl
[name_m]Gwynedd[/name_m] - [name_m]Eh[/name_m], not a fan, there’s nothing really wrong with it I guess, it just isn’t my style
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - I’ve become a little put off by how popular it is, but really I don’t mind it too much, I can definitely see the appeal
Truman-I like this in theory. It’s a good balance of strong yet kind. It’s easy to say & spell, but not over done. I just don’t love the last name-y nature of this, or the presidential vibe (nothing against the president; just feels slightly associated.) But it’s not a bad name at all.
Ellis-This is nice. It’s sweet & charmingly boyish. I don’t even mind the nn [name_f]Elly[/name_f] for a boy, but ‘Elle’ names are really popular for girls.
Apollo-I think that this is cool as a middle name, but it’s just a bit much as a fn, you know?
Girls:
Gwynedd-Is this a Welsh spelling of [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]? If so, I like [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]. I think that it’s really cool to have more authentic spellings of names, but it’s just up to you if the headache is worth it. This is assuming that you live somewhere where this spelling is uncommon. This name sounds nice though. It’s sleek & feminine but not too frilly. I really love [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] more personally, because it’s fancy & more easily leads to the adorable nn of [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
Freya-Freya is pretty. It’s simple & soft but just a little playful.
I love all of these boy names. I think that [name_m]Truman[/name_m] & [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] make a nice sibset as well, as both are surnames. I also love [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], but I think it is harder to match with. That doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be used though!
As for your girl names, [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is somewhere between ok and good in my opinion. It has potential, but it doesn’t grab me like the boy names you list. As for [name_m]Gwynedd[/name_m], I really don’t like it. When I say it, it sounds nerdy, and when I look at it, I dislike it even more. But obviously, if you love it then my opinion doesn’t matter
I am unsure if it’s the Welsh form of [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]. I know it’s a place name in both [name_m]Wales[/name_m] and Pennsylvania. I heard the name on a YouTube show “Good Mythical Morning”.
Thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate learning from everyone’s perspective on these names and it’s really helpful to hear. I agree Freya’s current popularity has turned me off from this name and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] feels better suited as a middle name spot if used. Again, thank you for taking the time to respond and sharing your thoughts!
