[name]Hi[/name] Berries!
I’ve been lurking for months, but have never posted. I’m pregnant with my first (!) and it’s getting down to the wire - 10 weeks to go! Hubby is anxious to settle on a name so he can call her something besides “she” and “monkey”. We haven’t had too much trouble narrowing it down, but I just can’t seem to commit! Can you help us?? We’re not too concerned about popularity (as long as there aren’t 3 others in her class), and we don’t have any favourite family names to use. Our last names is one syllable and starts with a hard “c” sound.
Here is our top 2 and the reasons I can’t commit to either:
[name]Charlotte[/name] - hubby loves nn “charlie”; I like it too and I like the longer more sophisticated full version. But i strongly dislike “[name]Char[/name]” as a nn and would want to avoid it.
[name]Britton[/name] - we like that it’s different without being super weird. But would it get confused as “brittany”?
Please weigh in berries! Which one do you like? We need help!
I like [name]Charlotte[/name] a lot! I know a lil “[name]Charlie[/name]” - I think most people go with this nickname instead of “[name]Char[/name]”.
[name]Britton[/name] is ok, but people will probably think she said [name]Brittany[/name] when first introduced.
Congratulations! I don’t normally post either but had to when I saw your thread bearing my favourite name and nickname! I’m obsessed with [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charli[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name] and strongly dislike [name]Char[/name]. I figure though that when I’m fortunate enough to have a little girl everyone will just call her [name]Charlie[/name] and therefore rule out [name]Char[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name] is a beautiful, strong and elegant name.
I wish you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy.
I like [name]Britton[/name]. It sounds so refreshing to me. I doubt people will confuse it for [name]Brittany[/name]. It ends in the “n” sound rather than the “y”, so it shouldn’t be a common mistake.
I love [name]Charlotte[/name] a lot! It’s on my short list. I love [name]Charlie[/name], as well as the vintage [name]Lottie[/name] and the more spunky [name]Lola[/name]. [name]Lola[/name]'s my nn of choice. I love the classic, feminine, laid-back, literary feel of [name]Charlotte[/name]–it has a little bit of everything and a [name]Charlotte[/name] could be anyone!
[name]Britton[/name] I’m not so keen on–I actually love it, but for a boy. I guess I can see why people like it for a girl, due to its similarities to [name]Brittany[/name], but I think [name]Britton[/name]/[name]Brittan[/name] nn [name]Britt[/name] is so cool for a boy. Compared to [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Britton[/name] feels very trendy and clunky to me.
[name]Charlotte[/name] gets my vote, easy!
Good luck!
I love [name]Charlotte[/name]! And the nickname [name]Charlie[/name] is adorable. I think that there are enough little Charlottes out there going by [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Lottie[/name], [name]Carly[/name], [name]Lola[/name], etc. that the nickname [name]Char[/name] can be easily avoided. [name]Don[/name]'t let it keep you from using such a beautiful name! This one gets my vote.
[name]Britton[/name] feels really trendy to me. It fits with all of those Br- names and feels a little masculine. I actually used to know a male [name]Britton[/name], so maybe that’s why I don’t like this choice much for a girl.
