I’d cut out [name]James[/name], cuz [name]James[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] is just too much [name]James[/name].
[name]William[/name] is just too popular and common (one of those that seems to be in the top 5 since the beginning of time) for my personal taste, though it is a solid and classic choice with a good meaning.
[name]Oliver[/name] would be my top choice from your three, it’s not quite as common (in the US at least— very very common in the UK), has a decent sound to it, has a good meaning. And it’s classic, but in a more subtle way than [name]William[/name].
[name]Love[/name] [name]Grey[/name]! I also love that its a personal choice for you. Of the first names, my favorite is [name]Oliver[/name]. I love [name]William[/name] too, but I prefer [name]Oliver[/name]. I don’t really like [name]James[/name] with your last name. Its just too close, I think. [name]Oliver[/name] or [name]William[/name], either way, I don’t think you can go wrong
[name]James[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name]- I love [name]James[/name] and the combo [name]James[/name] [name]Grey[/name] is fabulous, but [name]James[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] is way too similar.
[name]William[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name]- Again, [name]William[/name] [name]Grey[/name] is a great combo, but [name]William[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] just doesn’t flow very well.
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name]- Perfect. I love this, the flow is great, [name]Oliver[/name] is an adorable name and sounds great with [name]Grey[/name]!
Thank you for taking the time to write! Very thoughtful replies which is much appreciated.
Looking for more thoughts. Our top choice was [name]James[/name], but if a solid majority thinks it is awkward, the other two have a better shot.
[name]James[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] - I think [name]James[/name] paired up with your last name is a bit much. Otherwise I think [name]James[/name] [name]Grey[/name] flows nicely.
[name]William[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] - My favorite of the three. [name]William[/name] is a classic name and although it is popular, it is handsome and well loved. [name]William[/name] [name]Grey[/name] sounds great!
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] - My least favorite of your three. [name]Oliver[/name] was a little uncommon and suddenly it seems like it is everywhere. There is nothing wrong with it, I am just tired of all the hype around it these days. It seems like it will get super trendy, super fast and then if it dies down too quickly it will seem dated in 20 years.
Of the three I prefer [name]William[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name], both are great names! I love the name [name]James[/name], but with your last name seems a little much.
In [name]Canada[/name], [name]Oliver[/name] is not popular at all. It is crazy in the UK though as stated above by another poster.
I think my wife and I fell in love with [name]Oliver[/name] while watching the Top Gear Botswana Special. [name]Richard[/name] [name]Hammond[/name] nick names his Opel Kadett “[name]Oliver[/name]”. Perhaps that’s why it’s so popular in the UK
Maybe we also like [name]James[/name], because [name]James[/name] [name]May[/name] is so awesome, lol.
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Grey[/name] [name]Jamieson[/name] gets my vote! It’s handsome and distinguised with depth and history. I would eliminate [name]James[/name] because it’s too similar to your surname. [name]William[/name] [name]Grey[/name] would be my distant second choice. I like the sound of the combo but [name]William[/name]'s popularity turns me off.
William Grey Jamieson is my top choice. It flows nicely and I like the meaning of William.
Oliver Grey Jamieson also flows well.
James Grey Jamieson is choppy and too much James.
By the way, in 2011, William was #17 in Canada and Oliver was #32. So they are both popular names. I’m sure it depends where you live. Here in Quebec there are lots of both -both old, middle aged and young (actually, the Olivers are Oliviers, but it’s the French equivalent). I think it shows that they are both solid, classic, beautiful names.
I actually prefer the french pronunciation of [name]Oliver[/name], when i’m saying [name]Oliver[/name] out loud, I sometimes feel like the [name]VER[/name] part makes me sound kermit the froggy, if that makes any sense. Other wise I love it. We are in Ottawa, so perhaps Oliviers might work
