[name]Hi[/name]! I’m new here and am asking for honest help since we are having the HARDEST time finding a boy name we love…or even “like!”
His middle name will be [name]Walter[/name] (after my Dad) and last name [name]Burns[/name].
Which is your favorite from our short list?
[name]Eric[/name]
[name]Brody[/name] or [name]Brodie[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name] ("[name]Joey[/name]")
Any help is really appreciated so thank you verrrrrrrry much!!
I love the alliteration of [name]Brody[/name] [name]Burns[/name], but I have a soft spot for [name]Joseph[/name]. [name]Brody[/name] [name]Walter[/name] flows better than [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Walter[/name].
I don’t like [name]Joey[/name] much, my favourite nickname for [name]Joseph[/name] is [name]Joss[/name]. [name]Joss[/name] [name]Burns[/name] is a bit to blunt and S filled though.
I never really liked [name]Brody[/name] much, but I love alliteration, so I’m at a loss as to which is my actual favourite. [name]Bowie[/name] is a favourite B name not unlike [name]Brody[/name] but not as trendy, I would probably have chosen [name]Bowie[/name], nn [name]Bo[/name]. [name]Bo[/name] is one of my favourite nicknames, and it works for [name]Brody[/name] as well.
I never thought of [name]Bowie[/name] before…I’ll bring that up to my husband! Thank you for all your help! We were worried about the “bluntness” of [name]Joe[/name] [name]Burns[/name] as well (since eventually most will want to call him [name]Joe[/name] as he would age)…
I was also concerned about how “[name]Brody[/name]” would age with him. Does it seem more like a little boy name and not an adult name?
[name]Brody[/name] does seem a little like a young boy’s name, but if he feels that way about it as he grows up, you could suggest using [name]Bo[/name]. [name]Bo[/name] is ageless [name]IMO[/name].
And [name]Joe[/name] [name]Burns[/name]'s bluntness is less alarming than [name]Joss[/name] [name]Burns[/name] which is what I would choose, so I don’t think that’s a major problem. I like [name]Joe[/name] more than [name]Joey[/name].
It’s nice to hear some of you like “[name]Eric[/name]”…for some reason the majority of people I talk to just seem to absolutely hate the name if I bring it up and it makes us wonder why. The “r” in [name]Eric[/name] and [name]Burns[/name] sounded kind of nice to us but most seem to pass on [name]Eric[/name]. We liked that [name]Eric[/name] isn’t used as often as it used to as well and is dropping on the social security list compared to some others. [name]Every[/name] one of these suggestions are so helpful and my husband and I REALLY appreciate your time and help so thank you!!!
All are nice! I like [name]Eric[/name] a lot - I think it goes very well with the middle and last names. I also think [name]Eric[/name] has the elusive mix of being both normal/recognizable without being either trendy or overly popular (which is not what everyone is looking for in a name, but which appeals to me!).
I really like [name]Eric[/name] and [name]Joseph[/name]! [name]Brody[/name] is ok, just not my style. It kinda makes me thing grody (a word that may be showing my age a bit [name]Eric[/name] and [name]Joseph[/name] are both very nice non-trendy names. Plus, I like everyone I’ve ever known with those names
I vote for [name]Eric[/name]… next would be [name]Joseph[/name]. I do not like the sound of [name]Brody[/name], too close to “grody” which means “disgusting or nauseating.”
[name]Love[/name] [name]Brody[/name]. Also, I would spell it [name]Brody[/name] not [name]Brodie[/name]. There is no reason to get flowery with the spelling when you have such a great name already. As for your concern over whether [name]Brody[/name] is only acceptable for a little boy, you don’t need to look much further than [name]Brody[/name] Jenner. He’s 20+ and the name still works for him. Not to mention the fact that he can always use [name]Bo[/name] in his adult life.
My style is normally strictly classic names, but I have to say that I [name]LOVE[/name] the sound of [name]Brody[/name] [name]Walter[/name] [name]Burns[/name]. That is such a handsome name!! And I do not think [name]Brody[/name] is just a little boy’s name, but I do like the suggestion of [name]Bo[/name]/[name]Beau[/name] as a nickname if he doesn’t like it when he’s older. And he will also have [name]Walter[/name] to fall back on – also a great name! My second place name would be [name]Joseph[/name] (like I said – I’m a classic girl!), which is a great name, but in my mind nothing can beat [name]Brody[/name] [name]Walter[/name] [name]Burns[/name]. I just love saying that name!
I definitely like [name]Eric[/name] and [name]Joseph[/name] better than [name]Brody[/name]. The alliteration is a bit too much for me, but I also don’t find [name]Brody[/name] to be a ‘grown-up’ name. Your other choices feel timeless and as though they would work equally well for your son during his whole life. I like the flow of [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Walter[/name] a bit better than [name]Eric[/name] [name]Walter[/name], but I think both work. Have you considered using [name]Walter[/name] as his first name? My sons have a little friend [name]Walter[/name] who is 1 year old and I think it is a fantastic name for a little boy. Good luck with your decision!
