New to Nameberry - Thoughts Please?

[name]Hi[/name] All,

I’m new to this forum. I’m currently just over 17 weeks pregnant on a team yellow baby, due [name]June[/name] 10th. We won’t be finding out the gender which is making choosing a name even more difficult!
My husband and I already have a 4 year old daughter, named [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Clara[/name]. What are your thoughts on our top contenders for baby #2?

[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Faye[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Nova[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]

Thanks.

With your daughters name, I like [name]Esme[/name].

Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to Nameberry!

[name]Lucy[/name] - I love this name but it shares the same sound at the end as [name]Amelie[/name].
[name]Lillian[/name] - A little more serious choice than [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] - [name]Lovely[/name] name but shares an initial with her sister
[name]Eva[/name] - this name has the same European flair as [name]Amelie[/name],
[name]Faye[/name] - I love this name with [name]Amelie[/name]. It’s soft and feminine.
[name]Esme[/name] - Would match the French [name]Amelie[/name] quite well.
[name]Nova[/name] - I don’t like this name. Yes, it’s a star but it also means “new” which is an odd thing to name a child.
[name]Layla[/name] - I like [name]Leila[/name] and [name]Laila[/name] but I don’t like this spelling.

Top Three Summary

1 [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Faye[/name]
2 [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Eva[/name]
3 [name]Amelie[/name] and Esmé

[name]Lucy[/name]- I think this goes quite well with [name]Amelie[/name], even though it shares the same ending it doesn’t sound at all like [name]Amelie[/name].
[name]Lillian[/name]- Totally different style than [name]Amelie[/name], more serious and classic
[name]Alice[/name]- I love this name, but if you were to have a third child you’d be limited to ‘a’ names
[name]Eva[/name]- I agree with PP, this name has a European flair like [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Faye[/name]- I prefer the spelling [name]Fay[/name], but this name goes well
[name]Esme[/name]- My favorite name here to combo with [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Nova[/name]- I like this name, and it could probably do well with [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]- This name is too popular for my tastes, and it seems like a different vein than [name]Amelie[/name].

My favorites would have to be [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]; [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Fay/name; and [name]Amelie[/name] and [name]Esme[/name]. I think [name]Esme[/name] fits the best, though.

My first thought was [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Faye[/name]. [name]Welcome[/name] to nameberry!

Thank you for the opinions so far. You’ve confirmed what I’ve already been thinking. While I think [name]Esme[/name] matches [name]Amelie[/name] best, my heart lies with [name]Lillian[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]. I appreciate the feedback so far

I like [name]Faye[/name] and [name]Eva[/name]. Would you consider [name]Lucille[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name]? Suggestion of [name]Freya[/name]?

My husband and I already have a 4 year old daughter, named [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Clara[/name]. What are your thoughts on our top contenders for baby #2?

With [name]Amelie[/name], I’d say no to [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Alice[/name], and [name]Layla[/name]. Too similar imo.
[name]Nova[/name], while an interesting name, is a strong contrast to [name]Amelie[/name]. It’s got a very modern sound to my ears. [name]Amelie[/name] is much more feminine and a bit sentimental (in a good way!)
[name]Eva[/name] and [name]Faye[/name] feel too minimal next to [name]Amelie[/name].

That leaves [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Esme[/name], both lovely.
Yes [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Amelie[/name] share the “ee” sound on the end, but they’re quite different in tone. [name]Lucy[/name] is such an iconic name to me, self-assured in its simplicity. Great for a little girl or a woman.
[name]Esme[/name]- This name has an amazing balance, between those two Es it just… floats. I love the Z-sound. It’s sexy, but still elegant and dignified.
You can’t go wrong with either of these.

[name]Esme[/name] would also be my top pick, but [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Lilian[/name] would work well too if these are your favorites.

[name]Esme[/name] [name]Lilian[/name] would make a nice combo.

Other names that go well with [name]Amelie[/name]:
[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name], [name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]

I like [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Faye[/name]. I love [name]Amelie[/name]!
