There are so many [name_f]Eva[/name_f]’s and [name_f]Evie[/name_f]’s around so they’ve lost a bit of their charm (esp [name_f]Evie[/name_f]). I personally far prefer simple, elegant and timeless [name_f]Eve[/name_f] ([name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is stunning).
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] is really restful and obviously wonderfully symbolic, but for what it’s worth I personally prefer [name_f]Edith[/name_f] ([name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]). If you choose [name_u]Eden[/name_u], I think it goes better with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is a dignified and full name, and the nn’s are plenty ([name_f]Alexa[/name_f], [name_u]Lexi[/name_u], Alexie etc) and it might be a more stand out name, weirdly, in a classroom…
Congratulations! [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] stands out for me as being lovely and elegant. I don’t care for [name_u]Alex[/name_u] as a nickname but I do like the nn suggestions of [name_f]Alexa[/name_f] or [name_u]Lexi[/name_u]. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be my second choice but all are nice
Maybe it would help to provide some context. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] would honor my grandfather [name_m]Ed[/name_m] and grandmother [name_f]Louise[/name_f] who were both big gardeners, thus [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is baby girl’s daddy, grandfather, and great-father’s midde names so [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would honor them. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a family name on my grandmother’s side so we like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. We like 'em all! It’s hard to let go and pick one. We originally like the name [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] so that’s why we like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] which is the more Americanized version.
I think we’re leaning [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but it’s hard to let go of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] ([name_f]Edie[/name_f]) and [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is pretty too—you can’t go wrong—but [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is so elegant and lovely.
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my favourite, simply due to personal preference. The names just seem natural together - it’s beautiful.
I think [name_f]Eva[/name_f] is a bit more versatile, whereas [name_u]Eden[/name_u] has more of a hippie or religious vibe. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is gorgeous.
ETA just read your update. Eva Louise is lovely too. Louise feels a bit like a filler name, but I think that’s more true in the UK. I would go with whichever one feels more meaningful to you.
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my favourite of those. I love the solid traditional name after such a sleek first name. Very stylish!
Ok, one last dilemma… we decided to go with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] but googled the full name and found another [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] with the same last name in our state, and our last name is not common. So, we are now debating whether to go ahead with [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] anyway or change last minute to [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] which we also like very much. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is out at this point due to cadence with our last name (3 syllables and [name_m]German[/name_m]).
Final survey: [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]?
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is lovely, but I wouldn’t choose it just because you’re concerned about the existence of one other [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] YourLastName. There’s always a chance of someone sharing your daughter’s name, no matter how uncommon your surname. You don’t even know whether your daughter will still live in the state in five years, 10 years, 30 years…
If you truly prefer [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] to [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], then that’s a different issue. (And please excuse my forwardness, but maybe you need to ask yourself whether you are looking for an excuse to use [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] because you do prefer it.) But if it really is just about the name already being in use, I wouldn’t let that stop you from giving your daughter a name that seems to have such meaning for you.
