I did some digging and from what I’ve found, the first elements are Hindi or Sanskrit names, then the second part, -reddy, is the name of a Telugu Hindu caste, mostly from [name_f]South[/name_f] [name_f]Indian[/name_f]. It can also be written as “reddi” or “raddi”. Sometimes in Telugu naming, someone might be given a caste suffix after their given name
It might be written more traditionally as [name_f]Varnika[/name_f] [name_m]Reddy[/name_m] for example, but it’s smooshed in the stats!
I used to judge choices like Remidi, now I just think it’s an interesting trend to watch. This is culture happening, it’s not good or bad.
That’s a good point
I suppose I just wonder about them, in the same way as I’d wonder about a familiar name spelling very differently. Remidi and Mayple, I don’t mind. Reasyn and [name_m]Khrome[/name_m], I get. Maybe it’s just [name_m]Khosen[/name_m], because I wouldn’t be sure if it was like [name_m]Chosen[/name_m] or a different, new-to-me name?
