This has nothing to do with names, unless we are talking about my blog on college names, but I have some great news! My daughter [name]Laura[/name] got into some really neat colleges! She has chosen one and signed up to go there. Her college is on the [name]East[/name] Coast. We live in SoCal. So she is going very far away in the fall. I don’t want to say where she’s going on the computer. But we are all very happy for her although we will miss her very much. Her [name]Nana[/name] is very sad that she’s going so far away.
Hurray for [name]Laura[/name]!
Congratulations – I hear that it is harder than ever to get into good colleges these days. Can you say what letter it starts with, or what state it is in?
That is wonderful! I live in SoCal as well and I want to go to Wellsley… If she really loves the school, it is great that she is going. Congratulations to [name]Laura[/name]! (Very pretty name as well by the way.)
[name]Hi[/name], [name]Susan[/name]!
Please send my huge congratulations to Miss [name]Laura[/name] on getting into a great college, especially one she is happy with! Having just gone through the process a couple years ago (I’ll be a junior next year!), I know just how much work it is to get your stuff together, apply, and then decide on your college! That’s why I work with incoming and prospective students at my university throughout the year to ease the transition and answer those tough questions - it is such difficult decision to make. Well, here I go rambling…
Anyway, congratulations to you and your family, especially [name]Laura[/name], on her achievements. And, about the transition to the [name]East[/name] Coast from SoCal, I think that more and more Californians are transferring [name]East[/name], so she certainly won’t be alone.

It is very hard to get into a good college. And it’s even harder to get into a good college in [name]California[/name]. A lot of high school students in [name]CA[/name] want to stay here and we really don’t have that many colleges, so the [name]CA[/name] schools get inundated with applications. Fortunately, the [name]East[/name] Coast has a ton of small liberal arts colleges to choose from.
I don’t want to even give out the first letter of the college that [name]Laura[/name] is going to because she needs her privacy. But it is a well-known college. I will say it isn’t [name]Harvard[/name]! Or [name]Princeton[/name] or [name]Yale[/name]. She didn’t even apply to those colleges.
If anyone else on Nameberry got into a college, tell us. You don’t have to say what college it is. [name]Just[/name] tell us that you got in, so we can congratulate you!
I must say that one of [name]Laura[/name]'s friends got into Berkely, and I hope she decides to go there. I just love Berkely, and it is very hard to get into.
Congratulations to [name]Laura[/name]! I hope she loves her college!
Huge congratulations! I hope she is very happy, has heaps of fun, and learns a lot at her college
I’m not sure if I might have told you this, [name]Susan[/name], but I really like the name [name]Laura[/name]. If we were to have used simpler names for our children, my top choices for a girl would have been [name]Anna[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Sara[/name]. My sister-in-law is called [name]Lorna[/name] - I think that is a pretty name, too.
That’s fantastic, [name]Susan[/name]. Congratulations to [name]Laura[/name].
Twinkle, I love [name]Anna[/name] and [name]Laura[/name] so much, too. [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Sara[/name] and [name]Lorna[/name] are all very pretty, too. I think since you and your husband have such fun and different names, it’s great that you’re going in that direction with your kids’ names, too.
I would have named my kids more unusual names, but my husband loves very classic names. So that was that. He hated his name when he was young. His name is [name]Kent[/name]. The other boys used to tease him. He wishes that he had been named a more classic boys’ name.
Thanks, [name]Pam[/name]!
[name]Hi[/name]!
[name]Laura[/name] is such a sweetheart, and I’m so happy and excited for her and your entire family!
The [name]East[/name] Coast is lucky to be getting your incredible daughter! (((HUGS)))
Have a good night!
[name]Susan[/name], thanks for sharing your happy news! Congrats and best wishes to [name]Laura[/name]; the [name]East[/name] Coast is a great place to be!
That’s wonderful, [name]Susan[/name]! Back in the early years, when you were struggling and having to switch schools, all your efforts paid off. I am so happy for all of you. You must be so proud!
Yes, the early years were tough. But we struggled and [name]Laura[/name] struggled. She made it to a great college. Now she will have to work very hard there. I think that [name]Laura[/name]'s application really stood out because of all her volunteer work restoring houses on Native American reservations and in the Dominican Republic. So if you are still in high school, remember to volunteer a lot. Colleges love it and you will get a lot of joy out of helping people. I think I get more joy out of helping people than anything else I do. Although I really love to paint!
