I’d like to use [name_f]Francine[/name_f] in honour of my aunty but I really don’t like the nicknames [name_u]Fran[/name_u], [name_f]Franny[/name_f] etc. What do you think of Ci? I like the sea connection. A school friend’s name was Cienah with nickname Ci. It worked well.
I think it works and is a good idea.
It works well! I’ll also suggest [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and Cici
Yeah, it works well!
[name_u]Fee[/name_u]/Fi could also be an option but Ci is great
I like Ci. People probably wouldn’t automatically use it, nor know that it’s short for [name_f]Francine[/name_f], but I wouldn’t say that was a problem. Once the name and nickname are known, the connection is obvious
I wasn’t sure if it sounded contrived or too short. But I’ve noticed 2 letter names are becoming more popular.
Thanks for your responses. I think it will work too. Very fresh sounding.
I like it but you will probably have to work to make it stick–and you need to be comfortable accepting that your daughter may at some point choose a different nickname or no nickname.
I agree I’ll have to work at it at first. [name_u]Fran[/name_u] is more common but that name doesn’t appeal to me. If I call her Ci she’ll have the option of finding another name but if I don’t start with a preferred nickname she’ll be [name_u]Fran[/name_u] and that’ll be hard to shift.
