We love the name [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] for our third child, but my husband and I both have a tendency to call our kids by nicknames. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] doesn’t seem to have any natural nicknames. My husband thinks [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] is cute for around the house and in the family. I’m neutral on [name_m]Iggy[/name_m], at best. Any other ideas?
[name_f]Indie[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] possible? [name_f]Ina[/name_f], Dinny? I love [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and think you would in time come up with something, perhaps such as [name_f]Blossom[/name_f], [name_f]Petal[/name_f], Tootie, or other seemingly unrelated but sweet nn.
I am so sympathetic about this. Many of the names I love best seem to have no nickname or none I like. I think [name_u]Inge[/name_u] is pretty and [name_f]Inez[/name_f]. But [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] on its own is so lovely that although I too love to nickname, I might just go with [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f].
[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]
[name_f]Inga[/name_f] and [name_f]Indi[/name_f]!
I feel like [name_f]Inga[/name_f] could work for an [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] nickname. I think they are technically two separate names in their own right, but it seems like a natural nickname choice.
I agree with this. I know a young [name_f]Inga[/name_f] and the name works nicely on her. I also think [name_u]Inge[/name_u] could work informally. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] is a really gorgeous name!!!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] gotta second these! [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] might work too, I guess, but definitely a stretch.
If you really love the name I wouldn’t worry too much about nicknames - one will probably occur organically over time anyway!
We thought we might call our dd M@rgot Gogo for short. In fact we call her either Moomie or Monkey - these things often just evolve over time.
I do love [name_f]Inga[/name_f] as a nickname. One of our daughters is named [name_f]Lula[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] and [name_f]Inga[/name_f] are a bit close, but [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] are not…plus, we mostly call [name_f]Lula[/name_f] “[name_f]Lu[/name_f].” [name_f]Lu[/name_f] and [name_f]Inga[/name_f] sound cute together!
Ooh, [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]! [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] seeing this one considered! I don’t think [name_f]Lula[/name_f] and [name_f]Inga[/name_f] are too close at all.
