Hello! I’ve got a character named [name_m]Anselm[/name_m]. I like the name a lot and I’ve been able to incorporate a fun twist with the meaning, but I think his family would call him by a nickname.
Right now they call him “[name_f]Ani[/name_f]”, but I know that is used in [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars for [name_m]Anakin[/name_m]. Is the association too obvious or should I just keep this nickname?
Got any suggestions for another one? I read “Selmy” on here somewhere but I didn’t like it.
Character: 16yo boy, sweet, impulsive, outdoorsy, environmentalist, he’s my MC’s love interest (setting: contemporary US)
Hmm [name_m]Anselm[/name_m] is a difficult one. What about Ant or [name_u]Elm[/name_u]? I think [name_u]Ash[/name_u] could be used, but it is a bit of a stretch
Thank you both! [name_u]Elm[/name_u] is such a good idea, considering how outdoorsy and environmentally conscious he is—how did I not think of that?! I love some of the others, too. [name_u]Ash[/name_u] is a favorite name of mine anyway, though could be a bit of a stretch?
[name_u]Elm[/name_u] is an awesome nickname. You could also use [name_u]Sully[/name_u], [name_m]Lem[/name_m], [name_u]Sal[/name_u], or [name_u]Mel[/name_u].
[name_m]Anse[/name_m] (so pronounced like ants) seems like the most likely nickname to me, since most nicknames are just the first syllable of the name.
