Nickname for Barnaby?

I love [name]Barnaby[/name], but I hate [name]Barn[/name] and [name]Barny[/name]. My family loves to give nicknames. Can you help me think of some cool alternatives?

I think [name]Abe[/name] could work!

What about [name]Arnie[/name], “B”, [name]Bee[/name], or [name]Abe[/name]?

I agree, [name]Abe[/name] could work  Also:
[name]Barnes[/name]
[name]Bee[/name] (only for a small child though, in my opinion)
[name]Barry[/name]
[name]Arnie[/name]
Arby (this just popped into my head, is it a restaurant chain in the US or something? Not sure, but I’m sure I’ve heard it before!)
[name]Bear[/name] (as in [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Bear[/name], the children’s character)

I know two adult Barnabys and neither one goes by a short form, because both hate [name]Barney[/name].

Another option is [name]Ari[/name], which I personally like better than [name]Arnie[/name].

I like the nickname [name]Bear[/name]. Also just B.

I like [name]Bear[/name], [name]Ari[/name] and [name]Barry[/name]. You could also use Arby.

I think [name]Rab[/name] could work…

I think [name]Bo[/name] could work. [name]Bay[/name] or [name]Bar[/name] as well. I think [name]Bo[/name] is pretty great though!

Thanks everybody! Those are some good choices. I particularly like the suggestions of [name]Abe[/name], [name]Bo[/name], [name]Baer[/name] [name]Arnie[/name] and [name]Bay[/name]!

Yes- Arby’s is a restaurant chain in the US.

I too hate [name]Barney[/name]! I sort of like the ideas of [name]Rab[/name], [name]Bo[/name], [name]Bay[/name], and [name]Bear[/name] ([name]Bear[/name]! Gah, I love [name]Bear[/name]). I had always thought that if I used [name]Barnaby[/name] I’d use the nn [name]Ben[/name]. Huge stretch, but it still works in my mind. I think it’d work better with a MN that contains “en”–like [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Holden[/name], nn [name]Ben[/name]?

Good luck!

I adore [name]Barnaby[/name] but I’ve never really settled on the idea because of the lack on nice nicknames. I think if I did have a [name]Barnaby[/name] and I would want him to be just that but I worry other people outside of the family would call him [name]Barny[/name] or something else.

I think [name]Bear[/name] is just adorable but here in the UK there is a educational programme linked to the Geographical Association called ‘Where in the World is [name]Barnaby[/name] [name]Bear[/name]?’ which supports the teaching of world geography and history so as a teacher I think I would always remember that and obviously having teacher friends that would be difficult to overcome.

However, depending on where you are that might not be a problem!
