Nickname for Margaret Anne

[name]Hi[/name] there! My husband and I have been trying for our first for a while now and I’m hoping it will happen soon. We talk about names occasionally, but it’s usually him suggesting [name]Ozzy[/name] [name]Osbourne[/name] or [name]James[/name] [name]Tiberius[/name] and me shooting him down! [name]One[/name] time he seriously suggested [name]Kurt[/name], [name]Dave[/name], and [name]Krist[/name] if we ever had triplets. Like I wouldn’t know that’s [name]Nirvana[/name]!

Anyway, for a girl I’ve always thought that [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name] would be at the top of my list. I really like the name [name]Margaret[/name], and it’s a family name which is important to me. [name]Anne[/name] is also a big time family name. It’s my name, my mom’s, her aunt’s, both of my grandmothers’ middles. It’s probably used too much, but I’ve always liked it with [name]Margaret[/name] as a middle.

I would be cool with calling her [name]Margaret[/name]. I also like [name]Maggie[/name], but both of my parent’s (divorced) have dogs named [name]Maggie[/name] right now, so that won’t work. I’ve never been crazy about any of the other traditional [name]Margaret[/name] nicknames - [name]Meg[/name], [name]Peggy[/name], [name]Greta[/name], [name]Daisie[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], etc.

Recently I saw the wedding announcement for a girl I used to babysit. Yeah, I’m old. I always thought her name was just [name]Marlea[/name], which I really liked, but it turns out her full name is [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Leigh[/name]. And then [name]Jenna[/name] [name]Bush[/name] had [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Laura[/name], nn [name]Mila[/name]. Then I saw my [name]MIL[/name]'s family tree. She had a great-grandmother named [name]Maren[/name]. I love that name! So much so that I’ve been considering using it as a first name. I don’t think [name]Anne[/name] goes well with it as a middle, so I’d have to think of another one. But what if…

Would [name]Maren[/name] work well as a nickname for [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name]? What do you guys think? Too far a reach?

[name]Maren[/name] for [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name]? Absolutely! [name]How[/name] lovely!

[name]Maren[/name] for [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name] totally works!
Or, what about:
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Morganna[/name]
[name]Margie[/name]
[name]Marina[/name]

[name]Minnie[/name]
[name]Ren[/name]/[name]Renny[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name] [from the meaning]
[name]Maisie[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]

I think [name]Maren[/name] for [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name] works just fine! I know a [name]Margaret[/name] who goes by [name]Margot[/name], as another option.

I would use the perfectly gorgeous [name]Margaret[/name] or even the full [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Anne[/name]!

I love [name]Maren[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Megan[/name]?

I think [name]Maren[/name] could definitely work. I fell in love with the nn [name]Margie[/name] after watching Big [name]Love[/name] (her name was [name]Margene[/name] not [name]Margaret[/name] but still), I think it is just charming.

Thanks for the responses! I’m glad to know most of you don’t think it’s crazy. We’ve still got a long ways to go and I’ll probably change my mind a few times along the way, but maybe this one will stick!

We have a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] who goes by “[name_f]Aurie[/name_f]”

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] are my favorities

I’m not sure how far you feel comfortable going from the basic sound of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for nicknames but I wanted to contribute that the name [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is historically considered to be a diminutive of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. In fact, the [name_m]French[/name_m] name [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] translated means “daisy.” Also, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is super cute.

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] definitely works!
