This name is more popular than I originally realized and I would love to come up with a good nickname for my son, ideally one that also makes use of his unusual middle name: [name]Cobalt[/name]. (We don’t want to just call him [name]Cobalt[/name], but maybe some combination of the two…) Any suggestions?
Why not wait and give him a nickname unrelated to his name? There’s always that chance you won’t meet another [name]Sawyer[/name]. If the popularity bothers you to the point that you’re scrambling for a nickname, I would consider choosing a different name.
Wowee, that’s a tough one. [name]Sawyer[/name] doesn’t lend itself to easy nicknames. Soy? Saw? Yeah, not great. I bet you’ll find a nickname that comes from his personality once you meet and maybe not directly from his name.
[name]Coco[/name] would be fun! Like Connan [name]Obrian[/name].
Ummmmmmmmmmmm. Saco!
All I’m seeing is socks and salt.
[name]Cobe[/name] (pronounced [name]Cobie[/name])
The only nickname that comes to mind is Soy-boy, which is the nickname of every boy named [name]Sawyer[/name] that I’ve ever met, so probably not that.
I agree that you should just give him a nickname based on something else…for example, we often tack -[name]Sue[/name] on the end of my niece’s name, and because (firstname)-[name]Sue[/name] was said so often, and it rhymed, we started calling her Scooby-Doo. And then it just became Scoob. Not related to her first name at all, but it’s a fun nickname.
Another is called [name]Cece[/name], which morphed from us calling her “sister” (as in “hand that back to sister, please”) when we talked about her to her sister…it then became sis or sissy, and then slowly morphed to [name]Cece[/name].
If [name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Cobalt[/name] is the name you love, go with that and don’t worry, because in my experience the nickname will come naturally
