I love the name [name_m]Charles[/name_m] but I’m not a fan of any of the nicknames that come with it, e.g. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], Chic, [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] (I don’t mind [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] but I know a lot of people don’t like it and I’m not in love with it). I know nicknames aren’t essential but I like to have options.
Another favourite of mine is [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] and I love the nickname [name_m]Cole[/name_m] for it but I can’t picture myself using [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] as a first name.
Could [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] be nicknamed [name_m]Cole[/name_m]?
I think [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] could be nn [name_m]Cole[/name_m] for sure!
And yes the other way around could get to [name_m]Cole[/name_m] - and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] is such a good name.
Only thing if [name_m]Charles[/name_m] as [name_m]Cole[/name_m] would be enforcement of that name. Incidentally, if I knew a [name_m]Charles[/name_m], he’d be [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] (and [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] for fun).
I think it can work. We call my daughter [name_f]Bea[/name_f] sometimes and her name is [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. It won’t be intuitive to people so you’ll have to either go out of your way to explain it to people or it’ll be a nickname primarily used by family… But you don’t need to worry about that now. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wait and see what comes naturally.
I know a few people who go by their middle names so I don’t see why not.
funny enough, our son whose first name is [name_m]Cole[/name_m] has been starting to talk about going by his middle name instead (his middle name in his dad’s name and he wanta to be a [name_m]Junior[/name_m] now lol)
I understand the struggle!! My brother’s name is charles and my family calls him Choles, Chuckles, or Charlemaigne sometimes (but we never introduce him like that ) yes, [name_m]Cole[/name_m] can definitely work!!
