My husband and I are newly expecting our first baby later this year, and of course I’m already thinking baby names! [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] is an old family name going back several generations, and I think it would be so wonderful to carry on the tradition - but it’s a little clunky, so I’m trying to brainstorm potential nicknames. Anyone have any suggestions?? I’d love some help!!
Perhaps:
[name_m]Fin[/name_m]/[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_f]Mena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Fia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lea[/name_f]/[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_f]Ena[/name_f]
[name_f]Flo[/name_f] and [name_f]Mena[/name_f] were my first thoughts!
Filo, [name_m]Fio[/name_m], [name_f]Flo[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f]/[name_f]Mena[/name_f], Fil/[name_u]Phil[/name_u], Filly, [name_f]Fima[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Mimi[/name_f]
[name_f]Fifi[/name_f]
[name_f]Fia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fina[/name_f]
[name_f]Filomena[/name_f] is my aunties name and everyone just calls her [name_f]Mena[/name_f] : )
I have a friend named [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], and she goes by [name_u]Philly[/name_u].
I think [name_f]Flo[/name_f] and [name_f]Fina[/name_f] are great options though!
[name_f]Fifi[/name_f]
Fila
[name_f]Mena[/name_f]
Fil
[name_u]Min[/name_u]
If you spell it [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] there’s “[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]” and “[name_m]Pim[/name_m]”.
There’s also “Filly”, “[name_f]Mena[/name_f]”, “[name_f]Omie[/name_f]”, “Fil”, “[name_m]Fin[/name_m]”
Such a pretty name!
A few other nickname possibilities not said yet are [name_f]Effie[/name_f] (I think this nickname works for any name that starts with “F”) and [name_f]Minnie[/name_f].
I know someone named [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] and someone else named Filothea and they both go by [name_m]Philo[/name_m]/ Filo (pronounced more like “feel-oh”). It works great for both of them although they have different personalities and I personally like it a lot! The second nickname I would gravitate towards is [name_f]Mena[/name_f], pronounced either “[name_f]May[/name_f]-na” or “Mee-na”, depending on how you pronounce the full name. I know someone named [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] who goes by “[name_f]May[/name_f]-na” and it also works great!
[name_f]Filomena[/name_f]
Filo
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_f]Mina[/name_f]/[name_f]Mena[/name_f]/Minnow/[name_f]Mimi[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
Immy
[name_f]Fae[/name_f]
[name_f]Fifi[/name_f]
[name_f]Enna[/name_f]
Oh I hadn’t thought of [name_f]Effie[/name_f]! That was my grandmother’s nickname that she went by for most of her life but her name was [name_f]Ethel[/name_f] so it didn’t occur to me to suggest here. It’s super cute!
