Hi everyone, hopefully this is my last post before baby arrives hehe. I made a post recently asking if “Samuel Nicolás Santiago” (two middle names) was just too much name for our baby boy. It was a compromise that I wanted to propose to my husband who was not crazy about the alliteration of Samuel Santiago. In the end, we are likely going to go with Samuel Nicolás, which we both like, but I’m still in love with Santiago and having trouble letting go of “Santi,”
which I was hoping would be baby’s nickname. I may be grasping at straws here, but are there any creative ideas of how Santi could still make sense as a nickname for a boy named Samuel Nicolás? If not, I know I’ll need to let it go, and embrace other cute nicknames like Sammy and Nico, which are also fun. I’ve even been giving thought to the other middle name that we were throwing around at one point- Alexander- in the event that I could somehow make Santi make sense with that. But, I’m not sure as I know Sandy is more often used with that name. Anywho, thanks in advance for your ideas!
Is it the most intuitive? Definitely not. But [name_f]Sa[/name_f]muel [name_f]Ni[/name_f]colás is honestly close enough sound-wise that I think you could call him [name_m]Santi[/name_m]. Most people probably won’t make the connection, but I think you could still get away with it. Sort of a “yeah it’s not the obvious nickname but we started calling him that and it stuck
” kind of situation.
Also, I love the nickname [name_m]Santi[/name_m] and the name [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]! ![]()
Yeah, agree, it’s stretchy but the ingredients are there!
Following on from the others, [name_m]Santi[/name_m] anyway could be used as a nickname for [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] given [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- could be a fun nod to [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] as well as drawing on the [name_f]Sa[/name_f] from [name_m]Sam[/name_m] & [name_f]Ni[/name_f] from [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m].
This is what I was thinking as well! [name_f][/name_f] I think [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] nn [name_m]Santi[/name_m] 100% works! [name_f][/name_f] All the best with your beautiful baby boy! [name_f][/name_f] ![]()
Yayyy, thanks so much everyone for these ideas!! This is so encouraging to know that [name_m]Santi[/name_m] still works!!![]()
[name_f]Sa[/name_f]muel [name_f]Ni[/name_f]colas “Santi” is unexpected, but it could work [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Santi[/name_m] isn’t toooo far from [name_m]Sammy[/name_m] and I’ve heard people use similar stretches (think [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] “Bee”, [name_m]Julian[/name_m] “Jude”, [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] “Archie”).
[name_f][/name_f]I do think [name_m]Sammy[/name_m] / [name_m]Sam[/name_m] may still be used though
I agree that [name_m]Santi[/name_m] could definitely work and it would be fine for you to call him that. However, I still think you should be prepared for it not to stick with other people and he may end up getting called [name_m]Sammy[/name_m] a lot of the time - but that absolutely doesn’t stop you from calling him [name_m]Santi[/name_m]!
