Nickname ideas for Cordelia

I haven’t been on here in Ages. Newborn twins and a toddler keep you [name]BUSY[/name]!

Looking for some suggestions for nicknames for our little [name]Cordelia[/name]. There are some obvious ones, but I thought the Berries may have some cute/fresh ideas. We’ve tried a few, but nothing seems “right”. Actually, nothing may ever fit, in my mind. I’ve always been a full-name kind of gal. And, I [name]Love[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] as a whole. The original plan was for “CJ”, and we do use that one online, simply because it’s quicker to type. But, we never call her that. I liked the thought of [name]Delia[/name] (which my mom uses), and [name]Dee[/name]-[name]Lee[/name]. Those haven’t stuck either. The only thing I find myself calling her once in a while, other than [name]Cordelia[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name], is [name]Cordy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Her whole name is [name]Cordelia[/name] Janemarie.

What are your thoughts on possible nicknames? Which would you use?

(I’ve also posted about her brother’s name over in the Boys’ Names.)

I can only add Liddy, which I love. [name]Cordy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is adorable, so is [name]Delia[/name]. Good luck!

[name]Cordy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is so sweet! I do like [name]Delia[/name] other ideas are
Liddy
[name]Lia[/name]
[name]Lia[/name] [name]Jana[/name]

Her whole name is so beautiful though, it doesn’t need a nickname

I love [name]Cordy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - it is a little babyish though. I can’t imagine using that nn into her school years. (Maybe that’s just me?)

I think [name]Cora[/name] could work, [name]Cora[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is lovely. [name]Even[/name] the cutesy [name]Coco[/name] if you’re into it. What about [name]Dell[/name] or [name]Della[/name] - too much of a stretch?

I think [name]Corie[/name] could work. It could become [name]Cora[/name] when she’s older or she could revert back to [name]Cordelia[/name].

I love that you’ve chosen [name]Cordelia[/name] - a truly lovely name.

My favorite nickname for [name]Cordelia[/name] is probably [name]Cora[/name], but I think [name]Delia[/name], Deely, [name]Dell[/name], [name]Della[/name], [name]Cordy[/name] work well too.

If you were planning on calling her by both names, perhaps you could use (nickname for [name]Cordelia[/name]) + [name]Jay[/name] or (nickname for [name]Cordelia[/name]) + [name]Jem[/name] (maybe a bit of a stretch, but I guess it sounds a little like [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Marie[/name] said together?). So, for example, [name]Cora[/name] [name]Jay[/name] or something like that.

[name]Elly[/name]!
I’m not certain of how you pronounce [name]Cordelia[/name] properly, not being an English-speaker myself, but they way I say it, [name]Elly[/name] could defintiely work as a nickname. [name]Lily[/name] perhaps?

I like [name]Delia[/name], or just D. I know someone with a [name]Cassidy[/name] they just call D or [name]Little[/name] D. So cute.

[name]Clea[/name]? maybe? i like it

[name]Cody[/name] or [name]Della[/name]

I think [name]Cordy[/name] is super cute.

What about [name]Red[/name]? or [name]Keely[/name]/Ceely?

Ordeal? lol

I knew a [name]Cordy[/name] growing up and I don’t think she liked it very much. Although it feels stylish, it still sounds like someone is made of cords or like a name for a computer (a la Qwerty). There are more era-appropriate nicknames on the last page that I like better. [name]Cora[/name], Liddy, [name]Della[/name] might be better.

[name]Elia[/name] (Eh-[name]Leah[/name] or Eel-ia)
[name]Lia[/name] ([name]Leah[/name])
[name]Ora[/name]

I like [name]Didi[/name]…very cute for a baby and little girl.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name]! It’s gorgeous. I had always thought if I used it, I couldn’t see myself using a nn for it, either, but if I used one, it’d probably be [name]Cora[/name].

Good luck!

My parents had a friend when i was growing up, her name is [name]Cordelia[/name] and we always called her Dill

I have a [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Jane[/name] too! Mainly she’s [name]Cordy[/name] or [name]Cordy[/name] [name]Jane[/name], sometimes she’s [name]Deedee[/name] or rarely [name]Dilly[/name]. Our intention was for ‘CJ’ but that never happens.

My little sister (not so little anymore) is named [name]Cordelia[/name], and we call her [name]Delia[/name]. It is her “real name” rather than a nickname now, and not everyone she knows is aware of her full name. When she was in college she went by [name]Lia[/name] as she thought it was cute and fun, and I loved that nickname, but she has gone back to [name]Delia[/name] now that she is getting married. I would recommend [name]Delia[/name] and [name]Lia[/name] for your daughter, I think [name]Lia[/name] is great for a little girl. If you wanted you could squeeze a [name]Cora[/name] out of there, it’s not fully there but you could do it.
much love
