Which is better [name_m]Sol[/name_m] or [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]? Or is [name_m]Saul[/name_m] the best? I like all of them!
Another question- [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce [name_m]Sol[/name_m] the same way as [name_m]Saul[/name_m] or do you pronounce it like “sun” in Spanish?
Which name would you choose?
Possible middles for each??
I love both [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and [name_m]Sol[/name_m] but i like how [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] gives you the option of both
I’m not a fan of [name_m]Saul[/name_m], I would have pronounced it as sa-ool. And the pronunciation rhyming with [name_m]Paul[/name_m] just makes me think of shawl.
I really like [name_m]Sol[/name_m] and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]! Though personally I prefer just [name_m]Sol[/name_m] (pronounced like soul), it feels cooler and with less religious connotations.
I think they are all great names but I prefer [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]. It has versatility with the nickname possibilities but I think it’s also friendly and familiar. It can pivot in many directions style wise too. Suggestions: [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] Yoni, [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_u]Elie[/name_u], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_u]Lior[/name_u], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Esai[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Caius[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Heath[/name_m]
I pronounce [name_m]Saul[/name_m] as in “[name_m]Paul[/name_m]” so I’m reminded of a garden saw just with the pronunciation alone. The association to the Biblical person is also bittersweet depending on your persepctive. So overall these things subtract from the name for me. Suggestions: [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Avram[/name_m], [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m], [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Amadei[/name_m], [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Adlai[/name_m], [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m]
[name_m]Sol[/name_m] I pronounce like “sole.” It’s clean and direct, but I don’t instantly think of the name hearing the name audibly. For me, it’s a name that wouldn’t feel out of place anywhere in the world. Suggestions: [name_m]Sol[/name_m] [name_m]Yehuda[/name_m], [name_m]Sol[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_m]Sol[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Sol[/name_m] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m], [name_m]Sol[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrosius[/name_m], [name_m]Sol[/name_m] [name_m]Zephyrin[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] is nice. I would pronounce [name_m]Sol[/name_m] as in the first syllable of [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and [name_m]Saul[/name_m] rhyming with [name_m]Paul[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] is a strong, handsome name. [name_m]Sol[/name_m] is a good nickname for it, I think. I pronounce [name_m]Saul[/name_m] the same as the beginning of [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], but reading the other comments, I’m wondering if that could just be my accent. I don’t like [name_m]Sol[/name_m] as a stand alone first name because I feel that people will automatically pronounce it “soul.”
Which, I don’t care for. But if you like it and are okay with that, more power to you.
I do think it is nice to have a longer, formal name to fall back on, though.
I like [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and [name_m]Saul[/name_m] as first names while [name_m]Sol[/name_m] is all nickname to me. Personally, I think that [name_m]Saul[/name_m] is your best option if you are very attached to just using the shorter option as a full name. It looks more complete compared to [name_m]Sol[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] because it gives him options.
I pronounce [name_m]Sol[/name_m] and [name_m]Saul[/name_m] the same (rhymes with [name_m]Paul[/name_m]).
