We don’t neeeeed a nickname but we quite like that some of our other classic favourites can be shortened e.g. [name]Xavier[/name] to Zav, [name]William[/name] to [name]Will[/name], [name]Alexander[/name] to [name]Zander[/name], etc. Anyone know of any possible shortened versions of the Scottish [name]Alistair[/name] (spelling it the English way though). Would like to avoid [name]Ally[/name] as it’s a bit femme!
[name]Ali[/name] is often used as a male nn, but it might be a bit too close to [name]Ally[/name] for comfort. I’ve occasionally heard [name]Dair[/name] suggested as a nn for [name]Alasdair[/name]. It’s a bit of a stretch with the English spelling but it could work. Or maybe [name]Adair[/name]? Again, it’s a stretch but it’s possible. My dad is an [name]Alastair[/name] and the only nn he’s ever had as far as I’m aware is [name]Al[/name], which is what his mother calls him.
