Nicknames for Carleton

Hello all,

My sister is 8 months pregnant with a boy. They have settled on the name [name_m]Carleton[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. As a nickname they initially thought about CJ, but now they have found “[name_u]Carter[/name_u]”, as in the --Cart- from [name_m]Carleton[/name_m] and the -er- from [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. I really like this, but they are worried that it is too far away from [name_m]Carleton[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and that people won’t make the connection.
What do you think? Is [name_u]Carter[/name_u] a good nickname for [name_m]Carleton[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] or is it too far away?

Thanks in advance,
TDay

I think it works. I love nicknames that aren’t too obvious.

I definitely think it works. I love creative nicknames!

I feel like [name_u]Carter[/name_u] is just picking another name instead of his real name. They are around the same length. [name_m]Just[/name_m] call him [name_m]Carleton[/name_m].

I think it’s too much of a stretch for people to understand. It’ll confuse the heck out of people outside his family; your sister and [name_m]BIL[/name_m] will probably end up explaining themselves to all the nosy ones who ask about why they call their son [name_u]Carter[/name_u] if his name is [name_m]Carleton[/name_m]. I agree with @boyandgirl, the names don’t feel related; I think CJ is adorable and much easier for people to comprehend. Good luck
