Hey! [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] (and I’m a girl) and I hate my name. It’s not feminine to me at all, and doesn’t suit me. I’m trying to change my name when I move away at the end of the year, but I’m not sure what to! I figured a nickname for [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] that gets as far away form [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] as possible would be great!
Hm, the only nicknames I can think of are [name_m]Jordy[/name_m], Jord and [name_u]Jori[/name_u]… you could even go with [name_u]Dani[/name_u]. I used to know a girl with a more feminine version of [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], [name_f]Jordanne[/name_f].
One of my best friends is a [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] who goes by Josci (jo-see). [name_u]Jay[/name_u], [name_u]Jory[/name_u] or [name_u]Danny[/name_u] are also good suggestions.
What do you think of your middle name, if you have one? Or combine the first and middle name as is traditional in some places. [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]-> [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-[name_f]Beth[/name_f]
Have you read The Great [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m]? It made me really love [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] for a girl. I think of the country and the river too - they’re all great associations.
No nickname ideas - sorry! But [name_u]Jojo[/name_u] and [name_u]Jory[/name_u] are cute. [name_f]My[/name_f] cousin goes by [name_u]Jojo[/name_u] almost all the time (her name is [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]) but we call her Jojie and Jodge too which could both work.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first ideas were [name_u]Rory[/name_u] (not so feminine) and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] (which is much better). I think [name_u]Josie[/name_u] could work, too, or even [name_f]Rora[/name_f]/[name_f]Dora[/name_f], honestly. More of a stretch for those, though?
I like [name_f]Annie[/name_f], I think it takes you pretty far from [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. Could you use your middle name?
ie. A name I saw earlier today was [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cammy[/name_f] - [name_f]Ca[/name_f] from [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]My[/name_f] from [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f].
Could you do something like that?
oh idea:
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Jo[/name_u] - An
[name_u]Joan[/name_u]
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanne[/name_f]
[name_u]Joan[/name_u]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
ect. You get the picture
[name_m]Judd[/name_m] was the medieval short form of [name_u]Jordan[/name_u].
People have mentioned great suggestions. I really like [name_m]Jordy[/name_m], [name_f]Jora[/name_f], [name_u]Jojo[/name_u], [name_u]Jody[/name_u], and [name_u]Jay[/name_u] for you. Knowing your middle name would give us more options.
[name_u]Jory[/name_u]/[name_u]Jori[/name_u] is my favorite nn for [name_u]Jordan[/name_u]. Have you thought about putting an “a” at the end of your name? I think [name_f]Jordana[/name_f] is pretty, but there is a makeup line called [name_f]Jordana[/name_f], so I don’t know if that would bother you.
I too love the ravishing name [name_f]Jordana[/name_f]. (Rhymes with [name_f]Donna[/name_f]). It’s ultra-femme and very grown up, whereas [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] is youthful and androgynous.
I really like [name_u]Jo[/name_u] - but we have both cousins and a close family friend that goes by these names! It would feel like I was stealing them or something.
I’m not a fan of [name_u]Jory[/name_u] or [name_m]Jordy[/name_m] - I personally just don’t like how they sound.
I love [name_f]Annie[/name_f]/[name_f]Anna[/name_f] but once again I know someone close with this name… though I may not let that stop me with this one
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like [name_u]Danny[/name_u]/[name_m]Dan[/name_m]/et cetera.
I use to go by [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but it just doesn’t feel right. I’ll probably go back to this at one point, though.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Josie[/name_u], but I’m unsure if it suits me.
[name_f]Kinda[/name_f] like [name_f]Ora[/name_f], but it’s a bit to close to oral for me, which isn’t a nice connotation.
[name_u]Jay[/name_u] would work well. [name_m]Both[/name_m] my first and middle initial have this letter
For everyone asking about my middle name, it’s my mothers maiden name, pronounced [name_u]JAY[/name_u]-GO. But both her and my grandfather go by that. Calling myself that would feel even worse than stealing [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_u]Jo[/name_u].
