I’m looking for help compiling a list of all possible nicknames for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. This is actually a pet naming question for me (chickens!), but I figured I would put it here since it’s not specifically pet-related and it might be relevant to someone else naming a baby.
I’ve already got [name_u]Penny[/name_u] on my list (like [name_f]Henny[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] - I know it’s corny, but it’s a chicken) and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]/[name_u]Nelly[/name_u]. What else?
A chicken named [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]? I can’t decide if that’s cute and incredibly cool, or just a bit bizarre. I’ve also been thinking about this–I’ve been thinking about naming a character [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], and using a nn that wouldn’t be weird for her age-group. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is far and above my favorite nn for it, but I also like [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Pen[/name_u] is rather fun, too, even though I don’t care for [name_u]Penny[/name_u] at all.
ETA: I also like Piper, Pepper, and Pippa, although they’re a bit more of a stretch…
LOL! It probably is bizarre, but I’m silly and like naming animals real names, but with cutesy nicknames. We have a rabbit named [name_m]Pip[/name_m] (short for [name_m]Philip[/name_m], since he’s a boy). We’re going to get more than one chicken (probably 2-5, all hens of course) and I’m pretty committed to calling one [name_u]Penny[/name_u], so I started thinking of naming them all different nicknames for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. LOL! I’m thinking [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_u]Pepper[/name_u], depending on what breeds we get ([name_u]Penny[/name_u] would be good for a Rhode Island [name_u]Red[/name_u] and [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] it would be perfect for a Plymouth [name_m]Rock[/name_m] because they’re speckled black and white). I like [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], too (although [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] seems like a bunny name to me. Wouldn’t [name_m]Pip[/name_m] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] be adorable together? It’s like skip and hoppy. That’s actually why we called [name_m]Pip[/name_m], [name_m]Pip[/name_m] - he was so happy and seemed like he was skipping and dancing around us.)
