Nicknames for twins? Delilah and Eloise

I got some great advice on a previous name thread and am back with another question

I think my first choice of names for our twin girls (coming next week!) is [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]. BUT I like the nickname [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and feel most of the [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] nicknames like [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] sound too matchy (and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is very popular).

My other favourites are [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f]) and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (though I struggle finding nicknames I like for [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]). I’ve always gone by a nickname, so it’s a big consideration for me.

All opinions and suggestions gratefully received

I think my favorites are [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] with [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] as the nicknames. Since you will be calling them by their nicknames, I think its important that you really love the nicknames and the full names, not just the full names.

I also like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f] for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], however the names have a lot of similarity. [name_f]Delia[/name_f] could be a nickname for either. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is another option.

Other thoughts:

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] ([name_f]Cleo[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] & [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] ([name_u]Penny[/name_u], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_u]Mattie[/name_u]/[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]/[name_f]Tilda[/name_f]?)

Possible alternative nicknames:

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - [name_f]Della[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Della[/name_f] is very sweet, and [name_f]Della[/name_f] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], for example, are a lot less matchy.
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] - [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f], [name_f]Jewel[/name_f], [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_u]Julie[/name_u], [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]. I don’t know which ones you’ve already thought of, but those are some options. I think [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are nice together if you don’t mind the repeating first initials.

Good luck!

I’d do:

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]: [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]: [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cece[/name_f]/[name_f]Cordy[/name_f]. ([name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] are so lovely together btw!)

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]: [name_u]Jules[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f].

I would like to second [name_f]Della[/name_f] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], super sweet and not so matchy.

Maybe even [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f].

Thanks all for the feedback and ideas, especially for the alternative nicknames suggestions - [name_f]Della[/name_f] and [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] are both quite nice, though I still like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] too. So much to think about, so little time. Please feel free to suggest any other ideas as I still haven’t made up my mind

Why get caught up with not having a nickname for a full name that you love?
If you love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], why not call your daughter that? Why does she need a nickname?
It concerns me when people are so concerned about nicknames that they give up on the beauty of the full name.

I absolutely love these two names but I would mostly keep the, in full. I can tell you that with the name [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], most people just use the full name. [name_m]Both[/name_m] of these names are only three syllables and flow nicely. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] has the cute nn of [name_f]Della[/name_f] which I would use occasionally and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] has a ton of adorable ones I love.

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f],[name_f]Lulu[/name_f], Lo, and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]

happy naming!
