I really like the name [name]Immy[/name], but only as a nickname.
I’ve posted a thread in Girls Names about it… please read it!!

[name]Sam[/name]–But I really don’t love [name]Samuel[/name] or [name]Samantha[/name]…[name]Samara[/name] is nms and [name]Sam/nameson is not for me.
[name]Kiki[/name]–I really just like this nn
[name]Mel[/name]–I wish I could find a name I like for this one to honor my Grandpa ([name]Melvin[/name])…but I don’t like [name]Melissa[/name] or [name]Melody[/name] or [name]Melanie[/name]…I like [name]Melina[/name] but I don’t think it works for me
[name]PIP[/name]–[name]LOVE[/name] IT (for a boy) but I really do not like the name Philiip.
Emag08 - What about [name]Bethan[/name]/[name]Bethany[/name] as a long form of [name]Beth[/name]? And a [name]Max[/name]- name could shorten to [name]Mac[/name].
Rylane - What about [name]Amelie[/name] nn [name]Mel[/name]? You’ve got the [name]Mel[/name] sound slap bang in the middle there.
@NameLover and RedTulips - I always fancied that you could get [name]Lottie[/name] out of [name]Alouette[/name]. Coincidentally, it happens to be French for [name]Lark[/name], so you could use it to get to that nn too
I’ve always loved the nn Shush - which is the nn of a character in a book I read once. The character is a prostitute though, and her real name is [name]Sugar[/name], which I don’t think I could bestow upon a child due to all the “hey sugar” comments it would get…
I wanted to add [name]Maggie[/name], [name]Minnie[/name] and [name]Aggie[/name] along with [name]Gus[/name] and [name]Mira[/name]. All I love but still haven’t the ‘found’ the name for each one.
I love the name [name]Pippa[/name] and plan on using it if we find out we’re having a girl, but I’ll name her [name]Philippa[/name] - and call her [name]Pippa[/name]. Have you thought of doing that? It’s so cute!
I completely agree with you on [name]Liv[/name]! It’s one of my favorites, and I might end up using it as a mn, because I wouldn’t use [name]Olivia[/name] now either. And [name]Gus[/name] is my other favorite; [name]August[/name] has been growing on me lately, but I still can’t seem to get past the fact that it’s the name of a month. [name]Augustus[/name] just reminds me of either the emperor or [name]Augustus[/name] Gloop from [name]Charlie[/name] and the Chocolate Factory
My list:
Girls
[name]Roxy[/name], but not [name]Roxanne[/name]/[name]Roxane[/name] etc.
[name]Tillie[/name]/[name]Tilly[/name], but preferable not [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Tilda[/name].
[name]Jenny[/name]/[name]Jennie[/name]/[name]Gen[/name] but not [name]Jennifer[/name]
[name]Billie[/name]
Boys
[name]Zeke[/name], but I can’t use [name]Ezekiel[/name] or [name]Hezekiah[/name].
[name]Hank[/name], but DH won’t allow [name]Henry[/name]
Ideas on others’
[name]Liv[/name] - [name]Livia[/name], [name]Lavinia[/name].
[name]Libby[/name] - [name]Lilibet[/name], [name]Lilibeth[/name], Leiba/Leeba (both said lee-ba, a Yiddish name meaning dear/beloved, feminine of [name]Leib[/name]). Historically, it was originally a nickname for [name]Isabel[/name], via [name]Ibby[/name]. Nobody uses it that way anymore as far as I know.
[name]Pip[/name] - [name]Penelope[/name]? I’ve heard that usage before, makes at least as much sense as [name]Posy[/name], [name]Penny[/name], [name]Poppy[/name] which I’ve also heard for [name]Penelope[/name]. There’s [name]Philippa[/name], which I’m assuming you’ve decided against?
[name]Ned[/name] - not a fan of [name]Edward[/name] but feel [name]Ned[/name] is just too short on its own
Rila/[name]Rilla[/name] - DH really not a fan of [name]Marilla[/name]
I don’t like [name]Edward[/name] but have an inexplicable fondness for [name]Edmund[/name]. I love [name]Rilla[/name] but am as stuck on what it could be short for as you.
[name]Meg[/name]
[name]Nell[/name]
[name]Peggy[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Jack[/name]

All the [name]LIV[/name] lovers.
