What do you think of using Nightingale as a middle name? Nightingale was the last name of my great grandmother, a lovely lady who died from polio. If I used it it would be in the combination [name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale. Does this work or would you consider it strange?
I think it’s fine, especially because it’s a family name. I think you can get away with pretty much anything in the middle, but you should think about how she would feel telling people when they ask. As a family name I think it’s less embarrassing.
I think it’s fabulous and on trend with added family value!
I really like Nightingale, your family connection makes it even better! [name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale is wonderful!
I think it’s sweet. I think pretty much anything goes in the middle and Nightingale has family meaning to you!
[name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale is so sweet and beautiful!
I love unusual middle names, and so I’d be on board with it even if it didn’t have all the family meaning to you, plus, [name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale sounds just wonderful to me.
I think it’s darling! Personally, I’ve had [name]Celia[/name] Nightingale on my list for awhile
Beyond gorgeous!!
Very pretty.
[name]One[/name] of my first thoughts when I hear Nightingale is the [name]Cinderella[/name] song, “Oh sing sweet Nightingale…”
No hesitation needed. It’s perfect!
I think it’s beautiful, especially with [name]Cleo[/name]! I love how it has family history too, although the first thing I thought was the nurse- not a bad reference, though. [name]Bird[/name] names are getting popular now too, so it’s perfect in lots of ways.
Middle names are a total free for all in my opinion, so I agree that you should go for it. [name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale sounds beautiful, you’ll definitely get a lot of compliments on it
I don’t think it’s strange, especially as it’s a family name. [name]Even[/name] if it were not, I think it would be fine in the middle (but very odd as a first). I’m not particularly fond of [name]Clio[/name], but [name]Clio[/name] Nightingale sounds nice together, actually.
[name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale is very pretty, and I agree with posters above that you could choose pretty much what you want in the middle name spot. Best of luck:)
I think it is perfectly usable, especially since it is a family name. The bird associations just make the name all the more pleasant, in my opinion. [name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale is quite pretty.
I couldn’t resist chiming in with another endorsement of this lovely pairing. [name]Cleo[/name] has a musical ring to it, so it pairs perfectly with a bird known for its singing. I’ve known people with much stranger names than Nightingale with less personal/family significance. Go for it.
Thanks everyone! I’m a total bird geek too, so I love the associations it has. I thought my husband might not like it but we talked about it last night and he loved it
I have it as a middle name and first name but on a boy
Anything goes for middle names. [name]Cleo[/name] Nightingale is lovely.
It is a wonderful name and it was the name my grandfather chose when my mother started up what was an original idea in the 1960’s looking after the needs of the elderly ie shopping, taking them to doctor’s appointments, arranging meals and cleaning for them etc.
The Nightingale Home Aid service was the original name of it and it was a true service to the community and very true to the caring that epitomised [name]Florence[/name] Nightingale.
