Nn for Alistair?

Loving the name [name]Alistair[/name] right now, but wondering what nn I can get out of it. I would not use the obvious [name]Ali[/name] as I have some female friends with that name.
Are there any other’s out there?
Thanks!

I actually heard of a girl named [name]Alistair[/name] who went by [name]Ali[/name], but you are right, the boy nickname is tougher. I do love the name [name]Alistair[/name].

Well, there’s [name]Al[/name], but that’s not very creative.

[name]Love[/name] the nn [name]Alec[/name] for [name]Alistair[/name], it’s actually one of my top name choices.

[name]Alastair[/name]/[name]Alasdair[/name] are on our list too…

…I like [name]Ace[/name]. I’ve heard it for Aleksander and [name]Alexander[/name] plenty (though its more Eastern European than Scottish) so I’m slightly stealing it but the theft from Aleksander to [name]Alastair[/name] doesn’t feel that far.

I like [name]Sander[/name].

[name]Alec[/name] is okay too but too close to [name]Alex[/name] for my family.

I kind of like Dare…

After 6 years I have to admit my [name]Alastair[/name] is [name]Ally[/name] or [name]Al[/name] to most people in his life although that wasn’t my intention! He sings You Can Call Me [name]Al[/name] all the time. I asked him recently when we were debating the baby’s name what thought of his own name and he likes it but [name]Ben[/name] 10 would have been cooler.

It’s funny to me that so many decide what their children’s nicknames will be, even though they’re such a stretch from their formal names that they will never catch on from schooldays. I wouldn’t pick a name if I hated the most obvious nicknames for it.

The only nn i can think of is [name]Al[/name], although that’s a bit bland if you ask me. My friends son is an [name]Alistair[/name] and generally goes by his full name though

You could pronounce [name]Ali[/name] “[name]Ah[/name]-[name]LEE[/name],” as in [name]Mohammed[/name] [name]Ali[/name].
Or play around with the “stair” part of the name (pronounced “stir” yes?) [name]Sterling[/name], [name]Star[/name], Starman, [name]Ziggy[/name] Stardust :-b
Stir? You could sing him “Stir It Up” ([name]Bob[/name] [name]Marley[/name]) as a lullaby.
“Mister” would be a good pet name too.
