nn for Eleanor

I love the name [name]Eleanor[/name] but not especially fond of [name]Ellie[/name] for a nickname…mostly because there just seems to be so many Ellies. We started thinking of using [name]Linnie[/name] / Linney - not sure how we would spell it yet. Thoughts on this nn for [name]Eleanor[/name]?

[name]Linnie[/name] is cute. Also consider:

[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Elle[/name]
[name]Lea[/name]
[name]Nellie[/name]
[name]Lennie[/name]
[name]Ella[/name]
[name]Nell[/name]

[name]Eleanor[/name]'s very versatile!

My favorites for [name]Eleanor[/name] are [name]Nell[/name] and [name]Nora[/name].

I think you could also get away with [name]Lanie[/name] (with a long a sound) if you like it.

My favorite by far is [name]Nora[/name]. I just love this name and nickname combo! It’s classic, but [name]Nora[/name] is not very common. It reminds me of the character from the Disney movie [name]Pete[/name]'s Dragon and singer [name]Norah[/name] [name]Jones[/name].

I like [name]Ella[/name] is another cute option as is [name]Nell[/name].

Great name!

I know somebody who has the nn [name]Elle[/name]. I heard it 10 years ago (maybe when Legally Blonde came out). I thought it was a modern nn for [name]Eleanor[/name]. It was before [name]Bella[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] became super popular, so you might not be interested in [name]Elle[/name]. I really like it though.

[name]Nora[/name]/[name]Norah[/name]! What a gorgeous name. To be honest I can’t stand [name]Elle[/name]/[name]Ella[/name]/[name]Ellie[/name].

I have to agree with many others. [name]Nora[/name] is fantastic! I’m so in love with this name and it would make a great nn for [name]Eleanor[/name].

I’m curious about this too. [name]Eleanor[/name] is one of our top three, but I can’t find a suitable nickname. I just don’t like [name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Elle[/name] at all…[name]Nell[/name] reminds me of “death knell” (sorry) and unfortunately, [name]Nora[/name] has a negative connotation for me.

Found these other suggestions on baby name wizard… [name]Elora[/name] is pretty. [name]Do[/name] you think that’s a stretch for a nickname?

Nory, [name]Ellen[/name], [name]Elora[/name]

[name]Elsie[/name]

Why do you need a nickname? If you love [name]Eleanor[/name], just call her that. Choosing a name based on a nickname, doesn’t usually work

Sorry for repeats…
[name]Linea[/name]
[name]Leonore[/name] (I pronounce this [name]Len[/name]-[name]Nor[/name].)
[name]Norrie[/name]
[name]Ona[/name] (Oh-Na, not Oo-Na.)
[name]Leonie[/name] ([name]Love[/name] this as a NN; pronounced [name]Lay[/name]-Oh-Nee.)
