nn Roe

I like the name [name]Monroe[/name]- especially the nn that comes with it [name]Roe[/name]. But I have had a lot of negative feedback here with the name [name]Monroe[/name] for a girl. Does anyone have a good name that can get the nn [name]Roe[/name]?

[name]Monroe[/name] was one of our choices for a boys mn, so I see where many are coming from. It reads all boy to me. However, [name]Ro[/name]/[name]Roe[/name] is a cute nn for a little girl. I’ve recently been in love with [name]Rosetta[/name], with the possibility of calling her [name]Ro[/name]. Really, any [name]Rose[/name] name could be a [name]Ro[/name].

Yeah I understand where people are coming from. It’s just my taste goes against most here, in that I enjoy surnames or more boyish names on girls. My first choice right now is [name]Landry[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. So i dont know if [name]Rose[/name] will fit

[name]Roisin[/name] (pr. ro-sheen) would be cute, as would [name]Rowena[/name]. I also like [name]Rosemary[/name] and [name]Rosamund[/name].

Since you like more boyish options for the nn [name]Roe[/name], what about [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Robin[/name], [name]Rory[/name], [name]Rogan[/name], [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Rhodes[/name], Rosslyn, [name]Romy[/name], [name]Romney[/name], Morrow, [name]Aeron[/name], [name]Rowley[/name], Rooney, [name]Roscoe[/name], [name]Rowland[/name] or even [name]Sparrow[/name].

Oh I don’t know why I didn’t say this before: I don’t actually dislike [name]Roe[/name] as a standalone name. A roe is a kind of deer. It’s a bit of a pretty but short nature name, [name]Roe[/name].

[name]Rowan[/name]? I like that better for a girl than [name]Monroe[/name].

I have a friend Rochel who we call [name]Roe[/name]

I love the nn [name]Roe[/name]! I was going to use it for a boy though with [name]Ronan[/name] or [name]Jethro[/name]. I think it would also work in the middle spot as just [name]Roe[/name] (or first name spot, my hubby just won’t go for it as a first name  I like it for the roe deer reference.

I didnt like [name]Monroe[/name] until I heard it with the nn [name]Ro[/name].
That’s my only issue though, for some reason [name]Ro[/name] without the e seems like a cute nickname to me (For [name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosemary[/name], [name]Monroe[/name], etc…) while [name]Roe[/name] with an e is something in my sushi roll.

I actually don’t mind [name]Monroe[/name] on a girl… I thought more Berries liked it, too, lol, so I am surprised you got negative feedback on it. [name]Landry[/name] also feels quite feminine to me (mainly because the only time I saw it used was a surname for a girl that went to my sister’s high school, and I also heard it mentioned on a name forum for a girl). Because [name]Landry[/name] feels so feminine to me, I think you could get away with using something like [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name], nn [name]Ro[/name]. I actually really like the idea of [name]Rosalie[/name] nn [name]Ro[/name]. I can’t really think of any others, sorry.

I thought a lot of berries like [name]Monroe[/name] too, and it never even crossed my mind as a boy’s name. To me it sounds amazingly feminine, and added with it’s namesake, I just couldn’t see it on a boy! I guess it depends on how much of an american you’re being in pronouncing it. The Mon part should be really fast and almost sound like Mun, but if people are saying Mawh-roe, like a rasta greeting, “Hey, mon!” I could see it for boys.

[name]Long[/name] list of suggestions, sorry they basically all start with R, my brain is to tired to do anything extensive right now, heheh…

I have a little girl in my class named [name]Rosabelle[/name] who sometimes goes by [name]Ro[/name].

I don’t see anything wrong with monroe for a girl.
My name is Roselee with the nickname [name]Roe[/name].

I recently discovered the Faroese female name, RĂł, RĂł | Legitimate Baby Names

i don’t get people seeing monroe as a boy name. i see it as totally female, probably because of marilyn monroe. i say USE IT! i have a female cat named monroe & i call her [name]Roe[/name] allll the time.

Um, no. [name]Roe[/name] is not a kind of deer. [name]DOE[/name] is a female deer. [name]Buck[/name] is a male deer. Whitetail, mule, sitka, axis…no roe deer.

[name]Just[/name] thought I’d point that out.
