nns confusing for kids?

[name]Just[/name] wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My oldest son, [name]Robert[/name] (nn [name]Bobby[/name]) insists that his formal name is [name]Bobby[/name] and his middle name is [name]Robert[/name]. When he is asked what his name is, he will tell you “[name]Bobby[/name] [name]Robert[/name]”+ our last name. No matter what we say to him, he insists that this is accurate.
My daughter oftentimes gets called by her first and middle names [name]Megan[/name] [name]Alexis[/name] (especially when she is in trouble). She thinks that her formal name is “Malexis”, a smooshing of her names and her nn is [name]Megan[/name]. BAH!

My niece is [name]Abigail[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]. She’s often called [name]Abigail[/name], [name]Abby[/name] and [name]Abby[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]. Someone asked her what her middle name was when she was about 3 and she said it was [name]Gail[/name]. [name]Abby[/name] [name]Gail[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]. Haha, she insisted that was her name, it was really cute. She’s almost 5 now and she understand it now.
