Lately I have really been crushing on the name [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I think this is partly because I’ve been on a Disney kick and I absolutely adore [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Porter[/name_u]. I love the simplicity of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and having never met one in person (crazy, right?) I have a very open mind to what a “[name_f]Jane[/name_f]” can be. I imagine someone who is very sure of themselves, grounded, and witty.
Now here is my dilemma. It is very easy for the name to live up to it’s namesake of “Plain [name_f]Jane[/name_f]”. I’m a lover of names that stand out, so this just won’t cut it for me. So I want to find first and middle names that will elevate [name_f]Jane[/name_f] out of the “Plain [name_f]Jane[/name_f]” category. It doesn’t matter to me if [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is in the first or middle name spot, I am open to either.
So far the only name that stands out for me that I’ve thought of is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], which is interesting since neither name is my typical style. I usually like names with a fantasy feel, nature names, uncommon, literary inspired and nothing too common or average. Any help would be appreciated!
I don’t find [name_f]Jane[/name_f] plain at all. I can think of one I know in real life, and since it has such a long, rich history, I think of it as a classic name, but one I’ve rarely actually encountered. To me it’s really versatile - I can imagine a very quiet [name_f]Jane[/name_f], a very outspoken [name_f]Jane[/name_f], a very athletic [name_f]Jane[/name_f], a bookworm named [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] at every age.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is lovely. Some random others you might or might not like:
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (maybe too similar to Calamity [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but still pretty I think)
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Calista[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Daria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! Lately I’ve been admiring [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]. Not particularly unusual, but [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] nicely modernizes it, and sweetens [name_f]Jane[/name_f]'s sort of harsh feeling, and I feel like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is pretty unexpected as far as combos go. I had always thought if I used [name_f]Jane[/name_f] up front, I would do [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] (which I still like), but I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] has replaced it. I guess it helps that [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]'s a family name for me.
What about:
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (had to echo this! It’s so timeless and classy, but also has the nod to literature with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] Wadsworth [name_m]Longfellow[/name_m]'s [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f])
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (oooh! Also love!)
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]/[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Filomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Serafina[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Amelina[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Violetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Valeria[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f]
@boyandgirl I really like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is my aunts middle name and when I found out I just can’t get it out of my head.
@oregano7 [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is certainly versatile which I think is a big appeal to me. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] can be anyone, meek or outgoing, bookish or sporty, and everything in between. I also don’t pinpoint a certain age group for [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (much like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] for me). I really like [name_f]Daria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]!
@ashthedreamer I really like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Amelina[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. They’re both lovely! [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] is a name I think is lovely, not one I would use, but it sounds so sweet. I can see why you love that combo
@bellerose This is totally one I never thought of but Wildrose just struck me. [name_m]How[/name_m] gorgeous! I love the “wild side” of nature and this combo was stunning. Thank you! [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] are stunning as well, they have a hauntingly beautiful feeling to me. I love it.
I have known three [name_f]Janes[/name_f] - one is a glamorous blonde country singer, one is the coolest grandmother in the world (sweet, sassy, with a little rock-n-roll), and the third is a brilliant, nature-loving, hippie/book fanatic. I agree with the previous posters that your [name_f]Jane[/name_f] can be anyone she chooses, and the name definitely doesn’t have boring connotations for me, personally.
I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! I have [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as part of my favorite combo, so I of course suggest that (or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]). Other thoughts include:
I absolutely love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a first name can be plain depending on the last name. A friend of mine named her daughter [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and her last name is [name_m]Smith[/name_m], so I cringed when I saw it.
I’m also in love with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] lately. I think it’s gorgeous. I tend to have a soft spot for short short and sweet names, so I probably wouldn’t be trying to spice it up, but I see why you’d want to.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the thought of Hespera [name_f]Jane[/name_f], or [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_f]Zenaida[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] all popped into my head. I also love how the length of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] and Zuzia [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (thanks @saracita00!) makes [name_f]Jane[/name_f] stand out.
I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. She’s sweet, definitely not plain at all. My first thought and favourite so far is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f].
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a gorgeous classic and far from ‘plain [name_f]Jane[/name_f]’ in my eyes. She is my middle name and my mother’s.
I think it’s refreshing to see [name_f]Jane[/name_f] outside of the middle name slot and even though [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is gorgeous, I feel that [name_f]Jane[/name_f] should be in the first name slot to make the most of this underused classic.
I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and I think it can sound amazing with the right middle or first. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is nice, but I’m not the biggest fan of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] seems like a pretty normal and typical first for [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (to me anyway). I’ve really been crushing on [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] (or [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]) and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Minuet[/name_f], maybe because my full combo is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Minuet[/name_f] haha. I also love:
