We have a [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and I love the name [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]. I’m worried that they are too similiar. What do you think?
Yes. The same ending of -ah is a little much.
Yes, their ending is far too similar.
They are both adorable names, but perhaps too similar. If [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] is your top choice though, go for it. You will be the one yelling their names all the time, better be names you love
I know two brothers named [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]. Yes, it sounds similar but I have to say after hearing the combination in real life, I think it’s usable.
It would be too similar for me.
I do think they’re too similar because the first syllables have the same sound/rhyme (NO & [name_u]JO[/name_u]), and they both end in the same sound.
Eh… it literally has ‘noah’ right in it too, plus 1 letter only… I would say it was very very similar. Same sounds too.
I know brothers called [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. Never thought much of it, to be honest!
I think they sound great together. I know brothers [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], so it feels very doable to me.
This, plus they also have the same number of syllables.
Ditto.
- what oregano said re: both being 2 syllables.
Both are great names and I’ve known siblings with names much more similar than Noah and Jonah.
What do you think of Jonas as a less-matchy alternative?
But if it’s Noah and Jonah that you like the best, I’d say go for the names you love the most.
Edited because I missed the fact that you already have a Noah on my first read
I think it’s usable, go for it!
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
Yes, too much of the same sound. [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] could be a middle.
Too similar for me. Same sounds and syllables. [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] has all the same letters as [name_u]Noah[/name_u] + a J. I agree with above, using [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] as a middle.
They’re a little too similar for my tastes, sorry. It’s a problem I’m already thinking about, since my favorite name is [name_u]Noah[/name_u]., but I also love [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], etc.
Maybe consider [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] instead? Still quite similar, but the different ending makes it useable.
Rhyming at the beginning and both ending in ah - way too similar for me! I like the suggestion of [name_m]Jonas[/name_m], though I can only think of the [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] Brothers, lol!
Unfortunately yes. They both are Biblical and have the -ah ending.
I do think they’re rather close. [name_m]Jorah[/name_m] makes it a tad less matchy… [name_u]Noah[/name_u] and [name_m]Jorah[/name_m] are passable.
