Noelle: a filler middle?

I just read another thread on filler middles and was suprised to see that several people had listed [name]Noelle[/name] as a name that they considered to be a filler. This suprised me as I considered it to be quite unusual in the middle. It is my grandma’s name!! I am curious to know what others opinion is,

I don’t believe there’s any such thing as a “filler” name. If you love the combo that’s all that matters. [name]How[/name] commonly used the name is for a middle doesn’t matter. There’s a reason why certain names are favored for middle names-they flow well and are very pretty. I would say pair a more common first with a less common middle or vice-versa if possible but again, what matters is loving the name. Not whether or not other people have this silly notion of some names being “filler” names. [name]Both[/name] my girls have middle names that would be called “filler” names on this site. My older child’s middle honors my sister and my younger child’s middle my husband chose since I chose her first name (first child was the opposite, I picked middle, he picked first). [name]Both[/name] my kids names honor a loved one. [name]Don[/name]'t worry about that “filler name” nonsense, that’s all it is, nonsense.

I, personally, don’t see it as a filler, but it is starting to become one. At the moment, I only think of it as a filler during [name]Christmas[/name] time because it becomes so overused that I get sick of hearing.

I disagree with jersey_gray, it might be nonsense to people willing to use them, but it might not be nonsense to people who are saddled with them. I have one of the worst fillers, [name]Marie[/name], and it’s not nonsense to me. I absolutely hate it.

I have heard [name]Noelle[/name] in the middle quite a bit. However, it is still a very beautiful name, which is probably why people love to include it in their daughter’s name. And if it honors your grandmother, that’s even better!

I agree. This is nonsense! I like names to sound good together. There is nothing wrong with that.

I also think that [name]Noelle[/name] is very pretty.

It’s a filler on winter babies, and [name]December[/name] babies imo. Whenever someone looks for a [name]Christmas[/name] name “[name]Noelle[/name]” is usually the first one suggested.

On other babies, it’s fine. But I can see it becoming one in the next 5 or so years. A la [name]Rose[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Marie[/name], etc.

My daughters middle name is [name]Noelle[/name]. I don’t see it as a filler name, I used it because it is a family name. I rarely here it as a middle name.

We used [name]Noelle[/name] because our daughter was due around [name]Christmas[/name], and was actually born on [name]New[/name] Years [name]Eve[/name]. It had meaning to us. I consider fillers to be “[name]Rae[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Marie[/name], [name]Lynn[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Jean[/name]”

I love [name]Noelle[/name]! I would use it as a first name. Filler names seem like middles that have no meaning or sentiment to the person using them. A name that is “filler” to one person might not be for another… if that makes any sense.

My daughter’s middle name is [name]Noelle[/name], even though she was born in [name]September[/name]. I think it is beautiful and was a devotion to our desire to give her a [name]Christian[/name] upbringing.
I also agree that the “filler” argument is silly. Any name you choose could be considered a filler unless it is chosen for a specific purpose. But if you love it, it is right.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Noelle[/name], not a filler at all!

I agree!

[name]Noelle[/name] is lovely, but it is definitely becoming more common as a middle name.

Filler names are not “nonsense”. Most people think middle names are a necessity. Some people don’t care about them but are not brave enough to go against the norm and leave the middle spot blank. So, they just throw in [name]Rose[/name], [name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name], [name]Marie[/name], and etc

My mother’s mn is [name]Ann[/name] simply because my grandparents thought everyone had to have one. They cared not one lick when she married and legally dropped it and replaced it with her maiden name. Why? Because it was just a filler

And to the original question, yes [name]Noelle[/name] is the go-to mn for winter baby girls

I only have two filler names I’d absolutely not use in the middle spot: [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Grace[/name]. I like [name]Rose[/name] as a first, but not as a middle. I do know some people who have it because its a family name, but I’d be in favour of using it up front then.

There’s a bunch of simple little names that tend to get repeated a lot, and I like some of them and would use them even though many consider them dull: [name]Claire[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Rae[/name], [name]Belle[/name]. I wouldn’t try to avoid [name]EVERY[/name] name someone has ever described as filler or you’d go insane.

I prefer [name]Joelle[/name] to [name]Noelle[/name] but the easy explanation for that is I’m not [name]Christian[/name] and [name]Noelle[/name] has no nostalgia for me. It’s not a bad name.

[name]Noelle[/name] doesn’t strike me as filler at all. I have a cousin named [name]Anna[/name] [name]Noelle[/name], and I never considered her middle name to be filler.

I don’t consider it filler just yet, but it’s definitely getting there.

No, I don’t think [name]Noel[/name] or [name]Noelle[/name] would be a “filler.”

I don’t see it as a filler. [name]Marie[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]Mae[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], even [name]Grace[/name] now, and [name]Lynn[/name] and [name]Jean[/name] and [name]Beth[/name] a few generations ago.
