Nolan and Noelle... A mouthful?

Our son is [name]Nolan[/name] and we are expecting a daughter around [name]Christmas[/name]. [name]Both[/name] my husband and I love the name [name]Noelle[/name]. However, I fear the names just sound too similar and will be a mouthful. My husband is French Swiss so he also likes the French & [name]Christmas[/name] connection. So are the names just too similar for siblings?

I think they are way too close for siblings. Maybe us [name]Noelle[/name] as a middle name?

[name]Both[/name] are nice names, but definitely too similar for siblings. I predict that it’ll result in a lot of confusion around the house and you’ll have to deal with a lot of comments about the matchiness of your children’s names. If your son is [name]Nolan[/name] and you’re absolutely in love with [name]Noelle[/name] for a girl, I would recommend putting it in the middle and trying to find something else that you love for the first name spot

Ditto what’s been said. Give it a place in the middle, but find something else for up front. [name]Nolan[/name] and [name]Noelle[/name] are way too matchy.

I agree with what was said and also think maybe [name]Noelle[/name] as a MN.

They are too matchy, have you thought about [name]Joelle[/name]?

Oh, I really love [name]Noelle[/name] but I do think it is far too similar to [name]Nolan[/name] (N plus L and O in that combination is definitely a mouthful), but I’d use it as a middle name. It would still be lovely there.

I’ve had this debate over and over and over again.

We picked out a names for our second. [name]One[/name] for a boy and one for a girl. They both were matchy to our first, but we loved the names immediately. I was fine with two names that were considered matchy. And, it was to be my last pregnancy anyway. Then it turned out to be twins! Did I REALLY want 3 matchy names???

We (well, I) agonized over names and through countless posts on here with people discussing the positive and the negative, and countless conversations with my husband, we (I) finally felt comfortable using all three. After I settled on it, I was Very happy and content. They were “the” names that already belonged to our little ones in our hearts and minds. He never wavered and didn’t understand why I was freaking out about it. So as the soon-to-be mother of: [name]Conor[/name], [name]Cormac[/name], and [name]Cordelia[/name]…I’d have to say to go with what you like!..lol

In the world outside of Nameberry, there are MANY, many more people who actually Like the matching names (and even a few on here that like it to, though we are considerably outnumbered on a name focused website). I posted in other places and got [name]Way[/name] more positive reactions than I did on here, because the forums I used had members who had more diverse opinions on names than on a subject specific site. That’s not to say that I don’t love this site and appreciated all of the comments and suggestions, I really do.

[name]Just[/name] keep in mind that you’re going to get a Lot of negative reactions to using it on here, because all of us on here think about names Much more than other people seem to. You will encounter people in the “real world” who both like it and dislike it. But, this is not a good indication of the ratio.

THanks for the feedback everyone. I do like the name [name]Joelle[/name] but unfortunately my husband already has a cousin named [name]Joelle[/name]. I think I’m too afraid I’ll be yelling ‘Noellan’ for the rest of my life to use [name]Noelle[/name] though.

I agree with the previous posts, the names are too similar, not a good set for siblings.
