Nolan

Vibe check on [name_u]Nolan[/name_u]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] a trend or moreso becoming a modern classic?

I’ve always figured it would skyrocket at least into the top 20 considering it has [name_u]Irish[/name_u] roots and follows the 2 syllable ending in -n pattern like so many other popular names before it (Aidan, [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_m]Brian[/name_m], [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] etc) yet he’s just been hanging out around 65ish on the top 100 chart for a handful of years now, never making it past 60 and falling a few places since. Not that I’m complaining, I’d love for it to remain a quiet contender, but I find it interesting and just wanted to share my thoughts and ask how others perceive it

We just used this for our third baby, and that’s how we’ve always perceived it–a quiet, modern classic. It has been on the US Social Security list for the entire time they’ve had it, which speaks to its timelessness and agelessness. The [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Name [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] book talks about it being an excellent compromise name when one parent wants [name_m]Tom[/name_m] and one wants Aidan–it’s a warm, friendly everyman name with strong history of use and a stylish sound. We love it!

Gotta love the [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Name [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] book! We both like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Zane[/name_m] (he slightly prefers [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] though and I slightly prefer Zane) and [name_u]Nolan[/name_u] has always been near the top of my list. Maybe it’s a good compromise! [name_m]Boy[/name_m] names are hard!

[name_u]Nolan[/name_u] is cool - I’m thinking ‘American-modern-classic’ is how I’d define it. A bit of [name_u]Noah[/name_u], a bit of [name_m]Roland[/name_m], a bit of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] and [name_m]Nicolas[/name_m] too.

I very much like Nolan! I’ve only ever met one (and he’s approx. 20 years old now), so I’m not certain if it’s classical or trendy feeling, but I do know that I enjoy it! It’s certainly not harsh, quite a warm and welcoming name.

This is brilliant. Very true and very lovely!
