Nolyn.

I have a girl in my class name [name_m]Nolyn[/name_m]. I thought it was pretty cute. What are your thoughts on the name?

I was thinking of adding it to my list and giving it a really girly mm.

I think it’s nice. I knew a Neilyn who was named after her dad, maybe this is an honor name (but it could just be made up too). It’s a little more feminine than [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] which I’d pronounce almost the same way.

I’m not a fan, it looks like an attempt to make [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] a girls name. [name_f]Nola[/name_f] is cute though

Kinda reminds me of the compound name Novalyn. I like it well enough, though I’m pretty sure [name_m]Nolyn[/name_m] is just a variant spelling of [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] and I’d probably stick with the -an spelling myself.

Honestly I prefer regular ol’ [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], which is a boy’s name I actually don’t mind hearing on a girl.

I prefer [name_f]Nala[/name_f], [name_f]Nola[/name_f] or [name_f]Noa[/name_f] - but [name_m]Nolyn[/name_m] is okay.

I really hate the trend of misspelling a boy name and calling it a girl name. Sorry, but to me [name_m]Nolyn[/name_m] doesn’t look girly. It looks illiterate. And pairing it with a super girly middle name does not help. 99% of people won’t know that middle name.

I don’t mind [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] on a girl, actually, but I think I’d like it better as a middle name- I also much prefer the [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] spelling. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Nola[/name_f]!

I dont love it, but I can see why someone might and think the [name_m]Nolyn[/name_m] freshens and speeds up the name from Nolanne, for eg - I know a 30 year old Nolanne who just changed her name to [name_f]Anne[/name_f], she found it too harsh-sounding/whiny.

I’m not a fan of slapping y’s around to stand in for other vowels, although I know that’s super trendy right now. I agree with previous posters who have suggested streamlining it to [name_f]Nola[/name_f] instead - it’s much fresher than [name_m]Nolyn[/name_m], which just screams 00’s yooneek to me.

I prefer the [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] spelling but I think it’s very cute for a girl!

I misread this as Nylon at first. I love [name_f]Nola[/name_f] for a girl but [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] is too masculine for me. I’ve met several boys named [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] and [name_u]Noel[/name_u], so I just can’t picture it working.
