Non-popular name

This is our first child. We aren’t sure if it’s a boy or girl yet, but our 100% boy name is [name]Griffin[/name] (not sure on mn yet) … I get to pick the girl name since my husband solidified the boy name. I still give him veto power because I don’t want him to hate our child’s name, but he is making it very hard for me!

Keep in mind I want a “different” name… no Sophias, Charlottes, or Avas. I want her to be the only one with her name while she is young. My name is [name]Julia[/name] and I never met another girl with my name until college!

Here’s my favorites:

Dovey
[name]Temple[/name]
[name]Pepper[/name]
[name]Molly[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name] nn [name]Dolly[/name]
[name]Effie[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]

What do you think? our last name is two syllables and ends in -man

Any suggestions along these lines are welcome. I love old-fashioned names that haven’t become popularized quite yet.

My favourites are [name]Molly[/name] and [name]Poppy[/name]. [name]Temple[/name] and [name]Pepper[/name] are a bit too harsh sounding to me, and [name]Effie[/name] is a bit too frilly.

I like [name]Molly[/name] best. It’s grounded yet fun, and I think it would age well and is not too common. [name]Effie[/name] and Dovey seem much too nickname like.

I love [name]Poppy[/name]. Poppies are so beautiful and it’s such a bright, cheery name. It’s a real winner for an unusual but not unheard of name.

My favourite from your list is [name]Dahlia[/name] ___man. For the most part, I’m not a fan of word names, and [name]Effie[/name] seems like a nickname, rather than a name.

[name]Do[/name] you like any longer names that might give you some fun, spunky or cute nns?
for example, [name]Eliza[/name] nn [name]Ellie[/name], or [name]Izzy[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name] nn [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Dee[/name], [name]Dia[/name], Lodie …
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Dolly[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] nn [name]Della[/name]
what do you think?

Out of yours I like [name]Poppy[/name] the most.
[name]Temple[/name] 3/10
[name]Pepper[/name] 7/10
[name]Molly[/name] 4/10
[name]Dahlia[/name] 7/10
[name]Effie[/name] 3/10
[name]Poppy[/name] 8/10

[name]Hope[/name] I helped! (:

I adore [name]Griffin[/name]! I’m surprised you had never met another [name]Julia[/name] until college! I have yet to meet another [name]Leigh[/name]. So, here’s what I think of your choices keeping popularity in mind.

Dovey- [name]Will[/name] you use [name]Dove[/name] as her first name and Dovey as a nickname? I think Dovey sounds too nicknamey to be an actual first name. I have to say I have never met a Dovey so this one would definitely be good if you want something unpopular.
[name]Temple[/name]- I really appreciate this name for its literary connection to Dr. [name]Temple[/name] Grandin. It definitely isn’t popular as according to nameberry, it dropped 13% this week.
[name]Pepper[/name]- I can’t say I really like this one. If you want a spice name, how about [name]Saffron[/name]?its both a flower and a spice name and its not too popular! It isn’t even in the top 1000. You can nickname her Saffy.
[name]Molly[/name]- If you don’t want popularity, don’t go for [name]Molly[/name]. I know two [name]Molly[/name]'s under the age of four. [name]Molly[/name] is also a slang term for marijuana.
[name]Dahlia[/name] nn [name]Dolly[/name]- I think this name is really sweet. It sounds very British. Although, it is number 538 in the popularity charts.
[name]Effie[/name]- I would rather see the full form [name]Euphemia[/name]. Pronounced [you-[name]FEE[/name]-mya] it’s outside of the top 1000! You can nickname her [name]Effie[/name].
[name]Poppy[/name]- So spunky, I love it! I feel like it will rise in popularity though.

I’d check those popularity lists! [name]Molly[/name] was pretty high for a while, though I haven’t paid attention lately, and [name]Poppy[/name] was rising, last I heard. Very cute names, but … The problem is, if you want something unusual, you may have to sacrifice some of the “cute” factor. It’s hard to find the balance.
