Opinions on the girl name [name_f]Noora[/name_f]? I saw it in a TV show and I really love it!
I’ve not come upon it before, and after my initial ‘looks like a misspelling of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]’ thought, I immediately supposed it to be either a modern [name_f]Noor[/name_f] variant, or a Scandinavian form, and upon a quick search, it seems it is in fact both (Arabic & Finnish). I like it, especially the idea of NOO-ruh as opposed to NAW-ruh ([name_f]Nora[/name_f]) in regard to pronunciation.
That said, unless [name_f]Noora[/name_f] grew up in either of the above cultures, I think she’d constantly be correcting people, adding the ‘extra O’.
[name_f]Noora[/name_f] is quite nice! It has flair of [name_f]Noor[/name_f] with the familiarity of [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
I’m from Finland and [name_f]Noora[/name_f] is quite common there. I like it a lot more than [name_f]Nora[/name_f]/[name_f]Norah[/name_f]. Pronounced slightly differently also imo with [name_f]Noora[/name_f] the o is held out longer than with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. Only problem may be teaching people the distinction.
