[name_f]Norah[/name_f] would get too many spelling mistakes. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f]?
I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f], and I think it’s the more common spelling.
We have an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] called [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but, as a full name, I prefer the look of [name_f]Norah[/name_f] – [name_f]Norah[/name_f] feels more “complete” to me as a given name vs. the nickname [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
(People have spelled our daughter’s name as [name_f]Norah[/name_f], so that will happen regardless, although the [name_f]Nora[/name_f] spelling is more common).
Thank you for the input. Those are good points to consider- I like the thought that [name_f]Norah[/name_f] makes a better given name while [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a good nn, and I hadn’t considered spelling mishaps
[name_f]Norah[/name_f]. I like how finished, elegant, and vintage-y this feels. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] feels like it has less going for it and also more like a nickname.
I had the same issue choosing between [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. I chose [name_f]Lilah[/name_f].
I much prefer [name_f]Norah[/name_f]. In Australia [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is the heroine of a series of very popular girl’s stories from the early 1900s, so I’m probably influenced by that. [name_f]Norah[/name_f] just looks more finished and appealing to me.
I chose [name_f]Nora[/name_f] for it’s simplicity!
I prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
I personally prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f] because it’s far more popular (number 28 in the US in 2017 versus 136 for [name_f]Norah[/name_f] according to Social Security), and I think [name_f]Norah[/name_f] would be misspelled all the time. I also don’t think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] looks incomplete, and [name_f]Norah[/name_f] looks like it’s trying too hard to be a longer name. I like the suggestion of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] because I think it would fix the “incomplete” issue without running into any spelling issues. Best of luck
