Not a fan of his favourite

To preface this, I’m not pregnant nor are we TTC, but I do like to plan ahead.

So we were discussing names and I have always been super fussy and stubborn about names, so when he turned out to be even more so, I realised there’s going to have to be some compromise on both ends.
One of his favourite girl names is [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], which he let me vito, and his other favourite is [name_f]Vi[/name_f] (pronounced Vy) which I think needs a longer name with that as the nickname. We’ve compromised with [name_f]Vienna[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] topping the list. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is another of his favourite (and one that I really like).

So girl names are covered and it’s the boy name that I’m trying to work with.
His absolute favourite is [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u], which I do like, just not really on a baby/child. He really doesn’t want to shake off it, so I’m trying to come up with nicknames that ARE NOT [name_m]Carl[/name_m].
I thought [name_u]Lyle[/name_u], and then [name_m]Ly[/name_m] from there, but then we would have [name_f]Vi[/name_f] and [name_m]Ly[/name_m], which is a bit much for me! Are there any alternative nicknames for [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u] that you can think of?

If it helps, boy names that I love include:
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u] (yes, a lot of E names!)
[name_u]Gray[/name_u]
[name_u]Carson[/name_u] (which is actually second on our list)
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] (can’t use due to my nephew having the name)
[name_m]Kellan[/name_m]
[name_m]Kiran[/name_m]

Some might be a stretch but just some ideas

[name_u]Carlisle[/name_u]

[name_m]Carlo[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_u]Cass[/name_u]
[name_f]Els[/name_f]
[name_m]Lion[/name_m]

Nicknames from physical or personality traits are cute. Why does this need to be settled now?

@wandsworth that’s not true. Nicknames are sometimes shorter version of a longer name. And why can’t they “settle” it now? If that’s even what they are doing. They probably just want to think about names for their future children, like a lot of people on here.

You can call him [name_u]Cal[/name_u].

What about [name_u]Carey[/name_u], [name_u]Corey[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m] or [name_u]Lee[/name_u]?

He seems to really love the same sound, [name_m]Ly[/name_m] and Vy. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_u]Elias[/name_u] from your list has that same sound too.

I like [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u] and I think [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] and [name_m]Ly[/name_m] would be the most straight forward. I think [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] and [name_f]Vi[/name_f] sound nice together. This also may be a stretch, but if you put a -son middle name for [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u], such as [name_u]Carlisle[/name_u] [name_m]Grayson[/name_m], you could maybe call him [name_u]Carson[/name_u]?

On a side note, I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] would be beautiful as a compromise.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! And although I did preface it, I’ll just say it again, i am a planner and that’s why I was looking for suggestions, but nothing has to be settled right now.
