Not liking the flow of certain names

I tend to focus a lot on how first, middle and last names go together, and for some strange reason certain combos bother me.
Does anybody else ever feel this way, or am I just weird?

Maybe it’s because I’m’ slightly OCD.

Here are some of the things I don’t really like:

  1. Two word names together. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know why. Names like “[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]” and what have you. I love word names, but I just feel like it’s too much word for one name.

  2. First name and middle/last name ending in the same letter, such as “[name_u]Aiden[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]”. I don’t know, I just like it better when the two names are have more of a difference.

  3. Alliteration with the same sound. “[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]” works for me. “[name_f]Candace[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]”- not so much.

4: First and middle/last names that kind of “run into” each other. I just realised my own name is an example of this… but who says I like it?
Basically stuff like “[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]”, “[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]”…

I’ll think of more later :stuck_out_tongue:
So, do you have any “name peeves”.

I agree with you on 1 and 4… I’d say I agree about 2 & 3 but they kind of describe my name. First, middle, last all end in an -n, and my first and last names both end with the -in sound. They’re spelled differently (-in versus -on) but when said quickly they sound pretty close. And I’ve always loved alliterative names. If they don’t have that similar sound it doesn’t count [name_f]IMO[/name_f] - to use your example, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is technically alliterative but doesn’t feel alliterative to me, whereas [name_f]Candace[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] does because they both start with a hard C.

[name_m]Rule[/name_m] #1 will make my life difficult in the future, because I love word names but SO’s last name sounds like the word “belts”. So word names sound like a description. #4 I agree with also. [name_m]Even[/name_m] names that have the same repeating, strong sound bother me, like for example [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. It’s not the greatest example but the “ell” sound is so prominent in both it becomes singsong in a not so good way.

No, I generally don’t care much about what others are naming their kids except of course that I wish people were more open to names and also not keep reusing the same names 6 million times. It’s sad.

It depends on my mood! But typically I don’t like names that are “too much of a mouthful” like [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] or something or names that are unimaginative and have no flavour/personality.
Sometimes I like a little alliteration, or “matchy names” & other times that bothers me.
