Not long now, still lots of questions!

We’ve been working hard to find a fabulous name for our little girl who’s expected in about 8 weeks now. I’m hoping the 'berries can help turn my lists into something I love.

The perfect name for us is something distictive and quirky which refects our love of history, art, historic buildings and travel but will still suit no matter what path the little one decides to take.

First Name My partners favourite is [name]Lucinda[/name] ([name]Lucy[/name]) but I’m not 100% sold. The babys last name will start with “A”, is this a problem? My favourite is [name]Liberty[/name] ([name]Libby[/name], [name]Bertie[/name]) as I love the connection with the shop and the Arts & Crafts movement, the meaning (personal freedom), the connection with [name]France[/name] “[name]Liberty[/name], Equality, [name]Freedom[/name]” and the Delacriox painting. Is this one a trying to hard? [name]Clementine[/name] ([name]Cleo[/name]), [name]Harper[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] are also still in the running.

Middle Name We have [name]Paris[/name], [name]Rose[/name], [name]India[/name], [name]Bluebell[/name] and [name]Florence[/name] on the list. The last name will be [name]All**[/name]. What combinations do you have for me?

I’d also love to hear your thoughts as we’ve kept the names a secret so haven’t had a chance for feedback (especially not of the name aware kind).

First names: [name]Lucinda[/name] is just okay for me. [name]Liberty[/name], I think, is trying a little too hard, although the meaning is lovely and [name]Libby[/name] is a great nickname. I loathe [name]Clementine[/name] (sorry!), [name]Harper[/name] is okay… my favorites are [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name], which are both beautiful. I think of the two I prefer [name]Imogen[/name] for you, because “[name]Em[/name]” names are very popular right now and [name]Imogen[/name] would better fit the “distinctive and quirky” vibe you’re going for.

Middle names: [name]Paris[/name] is nice but I inevitably think of Ms. [name]Hilton[/name]. [name]Rose[/name] is lovely but maybe a little too plain for you? [name]India[/name] is pretty… [name]Bluebell[/name] is again trying too hard, I think, to be distinctive. [name]Florence[/name] is growing on me more and more. It’s a beautiful vintage name that also doubles as a place-name, how great is that?

My pick: [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Florence[/name], with runners-up [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Florence[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Rose[/name].

[name]How[/name] exciting that you’re getting so close!

I think [name]Lucinda[/name] is a nice longer version of [name]Lucy[/name], and I don’t see the two “a”'s being too much of a problem because the pronounciation is a bit different in the two words (seriously—say it out loud, “Da” and “[name]Ah[/name]”.

I actually [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Liberty[/name] and don’t think it’s trying any harder than several other baby names I’ve heard recently. [name]Libby[/name] is super-cute.

I also like the others—save for [name]Clementine[/name]. I keep really wanting to love it, but it hasn’t grown on me yet.

For middle names, I definitely like [name]Florence[/name] the best. [name]Rose[/name] is very pretty too, but as the poster above pointed out, it might be too plain for you. [name]Bluebell[/name] sounds like you’re trying too hard in my opinion.

All in all, I think you’ve got the ingredients for a fabulous name here, good luck! Oh, for the record…I like [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Florence[/name] best!

I like [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Bluebell[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. I don’t think [name]Bluebell[/name] sounds like you’re trying too hard. I would stay away from it if you only like it because it is a little different. But if like genuinely like the sound of it, then it’s perfectly usable.
Plus with the middle name [name]Blue[/name] popping up here and there, [name]Bluebell[/name] is kinda of just like a prettier version.
[name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] are two of my favorite names (my DD is [name]Emmeline[/name]) and [name]Rose[/name] is one of my favorite choices for a middle, so I might be a little biased here.
[name]Lucinda[/name] is not my personal style (although [name]Lucy[/name] is cute) but it sounds fine with your last name. I really don’t see any problem there.
I like [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Paris[/name] and [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Rose[/name].
I really like [name]Liberty[/name]. [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Florence[/name] or [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. If you go with [name]Liberty[/name] or [name]Harper[/name], I would stick with a more tradtional middle name, leaving out [name]Bluebell[/name] and [name]India[/name].
I kind of like [name]Imogen[/name] [name]India[/name], even though it’s “Im,In”.
Would you consider [name]India[/name] as a first name? [name]India[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is pretty.
Maybe you can compromise and use [name]Lucinda[/name] in the middle?
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Harper[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name].
Would you consider two middle names?
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Paris[/name] [name]Lucinda[/name].

Sorry I have kind of made up a whole bunch of combos that you didn’t ask for, but you have some great names, I couldn’t resist

I don’t think [name]Liberty[/name] is trying too hard. [name]Libby[/name] & [name]Bertie[/name] are adorable nns! Also, if you pair [name]Rose[/name] with [name]Liberty[/name] you get a nice balance of quirky and traditional. Plus it sounds lovely. [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Allen[/name]. [name]LOVE[/name]!

Using my favorite names from your list:

[name]Harper[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Florence[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Florence[/name]

Casting my vote for [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Rose[/name]!

I do like [name]Imogen[/name] a LOT but when paired with the last name, it sounds like alloneword. Imogenallen. Image and [name]Nala[/name]. I don’t know, something isn’t quite right. I [name]DO[/name] like [name]Liberty[/name] a lot (our baby is due on the Fourth of [name]July[/name], so we are casually tossing [name]Liberty[/name] around as a middle name). I don’t think [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Allen[/name] runs together too much, especially compared to [name]Imogen[/name]. Would you consider putting the two top choices together? [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Allen[/name]?

I think [name]Liberty[/name] might be better suited as a mn. It is nice that is has a lot of meaning to you, but it might be safer in the middle spot. [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Liberty[/name] get my vote. I dont care for [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], or [name]Harper[/name], all are too hipster for my taste (there really is nothing wrong with hister though). [name]Lucinda[/name] feels a little dated to me. [name]Luciana[/name] is fresher.

[name]Love[/name] these combos and I think [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Bluebell[/name] is extra pretty and original and I just the love the beautiful bluebell flower. All of danimari’s suggestions are lovely, however, if you like [name]Liberty[/name] I would use only in the middle name spot as you have so many other gorgeous feminine names and I would put them first.

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Bluebell[/name]

best wishes’

Thanks every-one for your great feedback.

I was worried that [name]Paris[/name] has been ruined by Ms [name]Hilton[/name], I do really like [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Florence[/name] has grown on me a little more after reading the replies to my post.

After lots of saying it out loud I think you’re right about [name]Lucinda[/name] sounding fine. Another poster has pointed out [name]Imogen[/name] as an issue and I never realised it before but I think they’re right. My partners last name is difficult, it looks straight forward but makes almost every name into a tongue-twister (and has led to the demise of many great possibilies already!) [name]Clementine[/name] is an interesting name, looks good on paper but takes a lot of courage in real life perhaps.

I do love [name]Bluebell[/name], it sounds so English to me and reminds me of a trip to Penhaligon’s (Princes [name]Diana[/name] wore “[name]Bluebell[/name]” perfume). I agree though that it needs to be toned down with a more conventional first name. [name]India[/name] was my original top choice for a first name but my partner was very adverse to it as he hated the idea of a childs destiny being linked to that of a country (and after the events in our beloved [name]Egypt[/name] recently I agree it’s a risk). [name]Lucinda[/name] does seem to work as a middle name, I hadn’t thought of it before. I do like two middles, my partner thinks a first name is enough (which is why some of my “out there” suggestions have made in onto the list). Thanks for making some new suggestions, it’s good to get out “out of the cave” and work with some-one else as I think I’ve way over-thought the whole name thing!

[name]Liberty[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is one of my favourites too.

Thanks for the suggestion of [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Florence[/name], I like it a lot.

I think that what has come out of todays feedback is that [name]Imogen[/name] is off my list, such a shame as it is a lovely name.

I think that you are exactly right about the running together, there are just too many soft vowels sounds. I don’t think that I could use both “L” names either as there are just too many “L’s” Which is why I discarded [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Stella[/name] (sob) and [name]Isabella[/name] (also too popular here).

I already worry that [name]Harper[/name] could be one of those wildly popular for 5 minutes kind of names so perhaps your right about it being too hipster. We have already looked at all the “[name]Lucy[/name]” variations, they all seem a little hard to pronounce to me.

[name]Emmeline[/name] seems to be getting a lot more love than I expected - [name]Emme[/name] could be a cute nickname I guess (which is important to us). [name]Imogen[/name] has fallen to the bottom of my list now.

Thanks again every-one, keep the suggestions coming!

Hello every-one, It’s taken a while for me to return but just wanted to thank you all for your help.
We went to the hospital with [name]Lucinda[/name] and [name]Liberty[/name] in mind and decided on [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] soon after our little girl was born (15th [name]April[/name]). We mainly call her [name]Lucie[/name] for now (this spelling seems more correct for a nickname and it reminds me of some other interesting Lucies like [name]Mabel[/name] [name]Lucie[/name] Atwell, [name]Lucie[/name] Rie and [name]Lucian[/name] Freuds mum) but she will grow into [name]Lucinda[/name] I’m sure.
I pleased we didn’t choose [name]Liberty[/name], it seems a little too much to me now. I’m also glad I gave [name]Harper[/name] a miss now there is a famous one about and I’ve met a rash of Imogens so that was a close call too.
While I love [name]Lucinda[/name], if I had to name another little girl tomorrow I’d go for [name]Clementine[/name] as it has grown and grown on me (it would suit our little one who is a big, wide awake, strong feisty baby so perhaps her sister might be too). I’m still holding a torch of [name]Emmeline[/name] & [name]Florence[/name] too (as well as my crazy, couldn’t use it in real life favorite [name]Thomasina[/name]).

What a beautiful name!!

[name]Read[/name] [name]Nancy[/name] Werlins Impossible The main character is [name]Lucinda[/name] AKa [name]Lucy[/name] and it made me come to love the name

just read your last post [name]Love[/name] it [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is too divine

i like all of those quite a bit other than clementine, lucinda, rose, bluebell and india (soso for india)
Nice combos in my opinion:

[name]Harper[/name] [name]India[/name] (i just dont like the other mn with harper but this sounds nice)

[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Paris[/name] (i love [name]Paris[/name], the city and the sound of the word, but you need something really un-tacky to get rid of the hilton and i think imogen does the trick)
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Florence[/name]

Also [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Paris[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Florence[/name]
Since you like European cities, how about [name]Harper[/name] [name]Vienna[/name]?

I like [name]Liberty[/name] alright as a first name just dont care for the any combos with those mn,
how about some sweet french middle name with [name]Liberty[/name] to highlight that association?
[name]Claire[/name], [name]Anais[/name], [name]Agnes[/name], [name]Collette[/name], [name]Elise[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], therese, zoe…

[name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is so pretty! Congratulations!

I love [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] as first names. I think [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Paris[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Bluebell[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Florence[/name] are my favorite combos
