[name]Hi[/name] berries, thank you for your continued support and help! I’m starting to not love [name]Lily[/name], the feel is throwing me off. I used to love the charm when it was less popular but now it’s lost it’s spark to me. I want something vintagey sweet. I love the name [name]Edith[/name] and mentioned it to a good friend over tea this morning and she laughed! I was so disappointed. I think [name]Edith[/name] is so strong and love the slightly more approachable [name]Edie[/name]. We also love [name]Miriam[/name] and [name]Marion[/name]. Any suggestions? Is [name]Edith[/name] that bad? Middle name will be [name]Corinne[/name]. We are looking for vintage names, bonus if they have a sweet nickname. Thank you, [name]Shannon[/name] Xx
We also like [name]Vera[/name]!
I’m not keen on the name [name]Edith[/name] myself, I personally see it as an elderly womans name but the nn. [name]Edie[/name] is lovely. I think [name]Lily[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is a lovely name, some others you might like are:
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Nora[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Flora[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
I love all those names more than [name]Lily[/name]! [name]Edith[/name], [name]Marian[/name] (I prefer this spelling; I believe [name]Marion[/name] was the original boys’ spelling, just as [name]Francis[/name] is the boy version of [name]Frances[/name]), and [name]Vera[/name] are among my faves! People think [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Edie[/name] sound old and stuffy, but they’re just behind. [name]Vera[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is my favorite of your ideas, though it doesn’t have a standout nickname (maybe [name]Evie[/name]?).
What about:
[name]Laurel[/name] (nn [name]Laure[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Ella[/name])
[name]Eliza[/name] ([name]Ellie[/name], [name]Liza[/name])
[name]Ellen[/name] or [name]Helen[/name] ([name]Ellie[/name], [name]Lena[/name], [name]Nell[/name])
[name]Rosemary[/name] ([name]Rosie[/name])
[name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Daisy[/name] or [name]Mamie[/name])
[name]Emmeline[/name] ([name]Emme[/name], [name]Lina[/name])
[name]Adelaide[/name] ([name]Addy[/name], [name]Lida[/name])
[name]Mariel[/name] ([name]Mare[/name], [name]Ella[/name])
[name]Dorothy[/name] ([name]Dolly[/name], [name]Dot[/name], [name]Thea[/name])
[name]Faye[/name]
[name]Susan[/name]/[name]Susannah[/name]/[name]Suzanne[/name] ([name]Annie[/name], [name]Sanne[/name], [name]Sukey[/name])
I like [name]Edith[/name] and [name]Vera[/name].( Im not so keen on [name]Edie[/name] though.) What about [name]Elsie[/name] or Violet??
[name]How[/name] about other floral vintage options:
[name]Lillian[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Clover[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name]
[name]Lavender[/name]
[name]Pansy[/name]
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Edith[/name]! I don’t find it frumpy or too “old” sounding the way I see a lot of people describe it. I think it’s light and feminine.
Other suggestions:
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Elle[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Audra[/name]
[name]Lia[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
Nothing wrong with [name]Edith[/name] [name]Edie[/name] is lovely. I was chuffed when I found out that my great granny was nicknamed [name]Edie[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] and [name]Vera[/name] are nice. I also like [name]Vera[/name] as a nn for [name]Veronica[/name].
What about [name]Esther[/name], [name]Lilian/name, [name]Beatrice[/name](biased here:)), [name]Lydia[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name]?
Or [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Diane[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Helen[/name], [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Ruth[/name]?
What do you think of [name]Dahlia[/name]? It feels vintage to me, [name]Dahlia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] still flows well, and you still get the flower connection. You could call her [name]Lia[/name] or [name]Lili[/name] (lee-lee).
I really detest [name]Edith[/name]! I love so many vintage names, but these non feminine clunkers are not my style. I think [name]Miriam[/name] is lovely.
[name]How[/name] about a variation of [name]Lily[/name] like [name]Lilya[/name], or [name]Lilyanna[/name]
I love [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Vera[/name]. [name]Edith[/name] still feels dated at the moment, but I think it’ll be more popular in a few years.
Some more ideas:
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Lena[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nellie[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Lettie[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Fee[/name], Fliss
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Flora[/name], [name]Flossie[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Sissie[/name], [name]Celie[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Amelia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Millie[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Lou[/name], [name]Lulu[/name], [name]Lola[/name]
I think [name]Edith[/name] is a really nice alternative. I like the nickname [name]Edie[/name]. However, I usually don’t tell people (even friends or family) my favorite names. Your friend might think it’s an old lady name, but they will change their mind when they see it on a lively little toddler girl. [name]Edie[/name] is adorable.
I like [name]Vera[/name] too. It’s very elegant.
What about [name]Rose[/name]? Since you like the botanical name [name]Lily[/name]. [name]Rose[/name] is very familiar as a middle name, but overlooked as a first. I think it’s lovely.
I don’t care for [name]Edith[/name] personally, but love [name]Edie[/name]! [name]Edith[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is nicer as a full name though.
[name]Vera[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] is [name]LOVELY[/name]. [name]Marion[/name] is a favorite of mine too (oddly enough-- [name]Marion[/name] is a female family name on my side and [name]Marian[/name] is a male family name on DH’s side…we can’t quite win there!). [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Marion[/name], [name]Vera[/name]…all winners in my book.
Other ideas…
[name]Ida[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Lida[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Etta[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Myra[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
I like [name]Edith[/name] [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Ida[/name] [name]Corinne[/name], and [name]Etta[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]…
I love [name]Edith[/name]! [name]Edith[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] would be so sweet. [name]Edith[/name] takes a while to warm up to. At least, it did for me (nearly 4 years!), but now I absolutely adore it. I dream of sisters named [name]Agnes[/name] and [name]Edith[/name] (ahh!), though I’d never be brave enough to use them. With Downton [name]Abbey[/name], I really don’t think [name]Edith[/name] is too out-there anymore. Personally, I love [name]Lily[/name], but I think [name]Edith[/name] is a great option, as well. And with the popularity of [name]Evie[/name] names, and the name [name]Eden[/name] (which often gets the nn [name]Edie[/name]), I don’t know why [name]Edith[/name] should be considered so outlandish.
[name]Edith[/name] [name]Corinne[/name] nn [name]Edie[/name] is precious!! I’d consider it but I probably don’t live in a yupster enough town for it to function on a real child. Here, as with other beautiful classic names, [name]Lily[/name] is rampant, so I can feel your pain in being the odd woman out who doesn’t love [name]Lily[/name]. Oh well.
~[name]Celestia[/name]
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Miriam[/name] And I love [name]Edie[/name], though I go back and forth on [name]Edith[/name]. Some of my other vintage favorites…

[name]Rosalie[/name] nn [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Sally[/name]
[name]Paulina[/name] nn [name]Polly[/name]

[name]Tabitha[/name] nn [name]Tabby[/name], [name]Beth[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Mattie[/name], [name]Tillie[/name]
[name]Winifred[/name] nn [name]Winnie[/name]
[name]Wilhelmina[/name] nn [name]Willa[/name], [name]Mina[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] really is not that bad. I don’t see why someone would laugh, it’s a classic. Kind of like someone laughing at [name]Rose[/name].
I like [name]Lily[/name] but if you aren’t feeling it for your child don’t use it.
